That was a positive life move for this young man.....felony charge on your record? Better grab a mop and bucket to prepare for your future career.

A defensive back for UCLA’s football team was arrested just days before the season was set to begin after he allegedly used force to take a cellphone from an Uber driver, school officials said Monday.

Yeah, "stealing your uber driver's phone" doesn't sound like the pinnacle of premeditated thievery. In fact since Uber knows who you are, only a complete idiot (or someone acting like one) would do something to an Uber driver. Bail of 100K sounds ridiculously high, unless some details come out like he pulled a gun or something.

I'd imagine something went down and he tried to rip the phone out of the drivers hand, which might have left a mark on the driver. But the guy called the cops on Ish shortly after the encounter, so he obviously wasnt successful in his theft. I'd be surprised if he tried to steal the phone, more like erase something off of it or something like that.
But with booze, people do stupid things

Really dumb, but there doesn't seem to be much malice in it. Most robberies, especially on college campuses, are robberies of opportunity. Someone leaves their laptop alone, or their phone on a table, or leaves their dorm room door open, that sort of stuff. My bike wheel got stolen from right outside of my apartment on like day 1 of last year. Such a pain in the ass, who JUST takes a front wheel? Of an old, beat up, Nishiki from the 80's. Literally a girl's bike...

You're confusing theft and robbery. What happened to you and the other crimes you described are thefts, not robberies. Robberies require force or the threat of force, generally speaking.

Oh, good to know. So if I say "I'm going to punch you if you don't give me your lunch money", that's a more serious crime legally-speaking than if I pickpocket your wallet?

Boise State already has over 120+ yards rushing on Washington and still 12 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

Stanford used to be such a good, legit top ten team. I know it's just the first quarter of the first game of the season, but they just seem to have gotten so pedestrian at so many things. I wonder if we're seeing the real David Shaw teams now and not just Harbaugh residual/coattails.

It's too early in the season. Almost every Pac-12 fan base is saying the same thing about the UofA after their unimpressive win over a UTSA team that was playing with only 6 starters back. I think we will know more about every Pac-12 team in about 6 weeks.

I agree that it's early. The problem for me is this is basically how they looked for much of last year too, where they were 1-5 against top 25 teams. So for me this isn't just two quarters of action to make a judgement on; it's two quarters and everything they did last year. And that trend line needs to get turned around real quick or they could be looking at another poor season.

They're playing a Big-10 team on the road and Fitzgerald thinks this is his best defensive team. If Stanford was playing at home against a lower division one school and struggling, then I would say they are not good. I will wait on all Pac-12 teams, including the UofA, until October to say if they are good or bad.

Losing to an FCS is bad. But because the offense can't get going at home, when that is what the Pirate is known for.. .not good.

That's why I didn't understand their preseason hype. Dude's looked mediocre ever since he took over for the second coming of Peyton manning. What was supposed to be different this year? Magic?
