Coaching searches 2017

There will be many job opening as usual, and the hot guy will be Tom Herman. Texas just lost to Kansas and ESPN reported earlier that the boosters want Charlie Strong gone.

One coach I would look at seriously if I was an AD needing a new coach would be Mike MacIntyre. He not only got San Jose State turned around, he turned Colorado into a winner.

Uncle Phil wants a championship and is willing to pay for one. This coaching search will be very interesting as Mark is toast at NikeU.

I feel like LSU will be missing Les Miles big time in about a year and a half.

What make you think LSU made a bad choice on fired miles and naming interim coach to Head coach in Orgeron. You don't think Orgeron can do it.

eh it was at ole miss and not lsu 9+ years ago. football is different now than then and it's always easier to get talent at lsu than ole miss. depends on who his assistants are.

I will be interested to hear the reaction from LSU fans... this one stuns me. I am not sure how they will feel - an alum I know told me they were making a run at Jimbo. Eddie O is a big step down from that...

He has always been a great recruiter - and was at Ole Miss, too. Did not help much...

If you're a Bruin fan you better also see OL coach Adrian Klemm gone in a few days. This year's UCLA OL was the worst they've had since Neuy, and the worst in the conference, which is saying a lot.

Pretty sure he's gone, but might wait for the new OC.

Orgeron needs to swallow his pride and be a recruiter and motivator and leave the X's and O's to a good coordinator. They have a good X's and O's guy on D in Aranda. They need a similar guy on O.

LSU fans seem happy with the hire... so long as he hires a good OC and leaves the offense to him.

My coon-ass Louisiana cousins hate the hire. They also hated Les Miles.

Come to think of it, I couldn't tell you a damn thing they DO like....

Yep. He needs to recruit, oversee the program, and that's it. Get a good OC, because they have a good DC, and just leave them free to scheme.

They didn't just throw $11M down a hole to run their search like NC State basketball did.

Helfrich is two years removed from a title game and is fired. Jim Mora is two years from an Alamo Bowl game and has leverage.

Interesting

And the fault goes back to Dan Guerrero. Just to think his AD tenure has so far survived THREE failed football HC hires!

On the other hand, Helfrich's tenure has been a steady decline. It's hard to keep a guy who gets worse every single year. Marcus Mariota isn't walking through that door.

He sucks. Why would anyone think they would be taking a step back getting rid of this guy. They will hire a good coach and probably haul in a better class and they will have greater player developement

Jimbo Fisher is the right move for Nike U.

Jimbo has joint custody of a child with a rare disease that lives in Tallahassee. I don't think he is going anywhere. I've heard (radio fodder) Lincoln Riley is likely to interview for Oregon.
