Can’t wait until the Yankee outfield is Judge, Trout, Stanton. Murderers Row Part II.

Mike Trout has made eight outs in the last nine days.

he’s reached base in 29 of 37 plate appearances over that stretch.

he’s been reaching base, on average, almost four times per game.

through this stretch, he’s hit .696/.778/1.261 — a 2.039 OPS.

its impossible to put into context how absolutely absurd this is.

on the season his slash line is .335/.469/.689/1.158 with more walks than strikeouts while leading the majors in runs scored, home runs, and walks.

his WAR pace as we speak is 14.2 for the season which would break Babe Ruth's 1923 all time mark (14.1 WAR) for position players.

all of this while playing on a team that gives him virtually no support and will most likely miss the playoffs.

he plays his 1,000th game tonight in Anaheim - blessed to say i will be there with my daughter to witness more of the greatness in person, a privilege us here in SoCal desperately hope doesnt vaporize when Trout becomes a free agent after the 2020 season.

quite possibly the greatest baseball player of all time is entering the prime of his already incredible career, and those of us here in Orange County that witnessed the greatest start to any career in modern history probably wont be able to see how the story ends.

fuck it, im gonna take it all in while i still can...see ya at the BIG A tonight, Mr Trout.

youre already a legend

It's too bad he's never accomplished anything though with the team he's on. 15 postseason plate appearances in 7 seasons.

Individually sure, but he has never won anything or done anything in the postseason. Not really his fault of course, would be amazing to see him on a real team.

that was the crux of my initial post, hes doing again Herculean things on another otherwise shitty team.

hes had a total of three games played in the postseason - three.

Exactly.

Smack in the middle of plate, under the top quarter of the strike zone.

The trivially obvious complete swing didn't even need to be an issue.

That umpire should lose his accreditation immediately, or at least not be allowed to call anything above a Pony League game ever again.

let’s all talk about the real problem, having to listen to a Alex Rodriguez mistakenly reference players throughout baseball all season and continually taking every opportunity to talk about himself at every moment/opportunity.

ESPN’s overcommitment to jamming him down the throats of baseball fans all year was definitely the low-light of the 2018 season for me.

insufferable doesn’t do it justice

At least he’s not John Smoltz, who does the same exact thing, but also acts like the game today is total shit played by guys with no respect for those who came before them and the unwritten rules and get off his lawn and......

An even bigger joke is the tiebreaker games played Monday. Just use the head to head. During the season the Cubs were 11-8 against the Brewers and the Dodgers were 12-7 against the Rockies. No reason for those games.

maybe, but Smoltz isn’t on sportcenter and around the horn and baseball tonight and every radio show and all the previews and on every flipping week like A-Rod

It’s the constant jamming by the mothership to somehow validate Rodriguez ascthe new king of color analysis and expert evaluation/opinion that’s driving me nuts, then I have to listen to him all pregame, during game, and post game.

it’s too much

It’s MLBTV for me. And nothing else.

These announcers for the NYY/Oak game are awful. They are drooling all over the Yankees. And they said the pressure was more on the Yankees than Oakland. In pro sports at this level that is not true. I'm sure both teams have equal stress going into the game. It's the same principle as a team wants the game more. That is hogwash.

Ron Darling and Dennis Eckersley? Never really heard any complaints about them before... except from Yankees fans.

I am probably reading too much into it. It could be I'm a little bias in that I wanted Oakland to win, although I really don't have a problem with the Yankees. Well...other than they win too much. I can't complain though. The Cubs are also a big market team.

I don't really care atm who wins the Red Sox and Yankee series. But eating popcorn is perfect for the rivalry. I am waiting to find out the team who is most obnoxious.

I went to Twitter to see if anyone was complaining about the announcers. You’ll get a kick out of this...
I couldn’t find any A’s fans complaining, but maybe Yankees fans are just a sensitive bunch.

Yankees fans complaining about announcers is rich considering they have John Sterling who is the biggest dufus in the profession.

He called Stanton's home run a "foul home run" on air last night.

I’m a Yankee fan and I think Sterling is a flat out joke.

I can understand Yankee fans hearing bias from a former Met and a former A’s/Red Sox pitcher. I didn’t hear any bias for either team. I thought they did a good job of breaking down the game. The tweet about Trivino I posted is funny to me. Should they not have mentioned that he absolutely shut the Yankees down after they had built up a ton of momentum?

On a different note, the pitching set up for the A’s was stupid. I don’t know if that cost them the game, but there’s a reason you let a starter go through the opposing lineup a few times before you go to your bullpen.

Totally agree with you Chi about the tweets. Fans of certain teams have sensitive ears when it comes to former opposition players who become announcers. Although, sometimes the criticism is warranted.

That's why I prefer MLB network - was watching the pre-game yesterday and Milar and Rose were hilarious interviewing Sabathia. They were passing a hat around "the CC Sabathia fund to raise 500K" which he lost when he was ejected in his last game per his bonus clause. Plus that network kills it when it comes to analytics which I am enjoying more and more even though i'm still old school when it comes to Baseball.

As for bullpenning - might work in the regular season but not for a winner-take-all game in Oct in the Bronx. Need to have 4-5 pitchers that can handle that environment and as we saw last night a few of their pitchers spit the bit. Problem with the A's is they just don't have a big time starter. Period.
