Hinch is out in Houston because he’s a cheater.

Cora is out in Boston because he’s a cheater.

The Yankees got a new training staff.

2020 is starting out pretty well...

So Jeter without surprise goes into the HOF one vote shy of a unanimous selection. Please let us find out what idiot didn’t vote for him first ballot and strip him of his voting rights

It’s so fucking dumb. There’s no argument to be made that Jeter isn’t a Hall of Famer, so now you get into this “well, he belongs in the Hall but not unanimously on the first ballot” crap from some nerd who couldn’t hold his jockstrap.

Meanwhile, Stanton is a first ballot guy for this alone...

Severino and Judge both hurt. Please don’t let this issue linger through the season. They can win the whole thing now that the Asterisks won’t know what pitch is coming.

This season is quickly devolving and it hasn’t even started yet. On opening day they’ll be without their #2 and #3 starters and the entire starting outfield.

The best team that never was...

Stop complaining-

You shouldn't need your #2 and #3 pitcher on Opening Day.

Tommy John surgery, so even if he comes back at some point in 2020 I’m guessing he won’t be fully healthy until 2021.

The reaction of Stanton says it all. I have to assume the catcher was in shock since he didn’t really sprint to the mound. Gruesome line drive

Gerrit Cole threw 5 full innings in the first full team simulated game and was apparently in mid-season form. He retired the last ten batters he faced. Allowed 1 run, 1 hit, 2 walks. Struck out six. 67 pitches, 43 strikes

Someone came to play in 2020...

He might not get beat this season. 12-15 starts in the regular season and depending on if he was throwing some during the shut down he might be way ahead of the hitters?

In 2019 the Yanks hit 43 homers against Baltimore setting the record for most against one team (previous record was 29).

First pitch to the Yankees from the Orioles in 2020?

Three straight wins has me breathing a bit easier. Two walk-offs and an extra inning grand slam will do that.

Big series upcoming with the Rays. Make or break time.

He is a very inspiring individual. Fielding was obviously a challenge for him, so there was a gentleman's agreement not to bunt on him. Not sure if that would be the case today.

That’s not my recollection. I remember him being a great fielder and early in his career players bunted on him constantly. But he switched his glove to his hand so fast and was such a great athlete and got off the mound so quick that he was throwing guys out at first regularly and they stopped bunting.

I watched him once snag a comeback liner that was going right for his head with seemingly no effort at all. Not even a flinch. Just got his glove on his hand and in front of his face in one fast fluid motion. It was amazing.

Did you know he was the starting QB for his high school football team?

And has a higher career batting average than some other long-time NL pitchers. I’m looking at you Jon Lester.

Maybe I didn't get to see him pitch until players stopped bunting, for whatever the reason. And I remember how fast he could switch the glove around, so he was obviously a fabulous athlete. I will say, that regardless of how great a fielder may be, it's a matter of number of touches until the inevitable error. And his necessity to juggle that glove around, no matter how great he was at it, caused him an obviously greater degree of difficulty. That's just to give him full credit for his accomplishments.

Found this on a Google search
"On bunts and slow rollers Abbott often didn't have time to field the ball with his glove and make the transfer. So he usually discarded the glove and fielded bunts barehanded. In high school, an opposing coach once ordered the first eight batters to bunt. After the first one reached base, Jim shut down the bunting game by retiring the next seven in a row. Of course, he had to pass the same test in college and the big leaguers would also give it a try. But once again, Abbott answered with great coordination and quick reflexes."

I remember distinctly that Abbott had a very deliberate throw to first. A lot of pitchers uncork a fastball at the first baseman or short arm the throw, but Jim had a very regimented throw that hit the 1B in the glove every time.

He was a childhood hero of mine. His no-no was one of the sports highlights of my teenage years.

He's very worthy of all accolades. When I was a little kid, my parents got me a subscription to Sport magazine to get me to read more. It didn't try to compete with Sports Illustrated with the week's big sports news stories, so it went with in-depth stories on individual players. The great thing is they'd always have a full-page 8 1/2 x 11 action photo of the player on the facing page of the beginning of their story. So, I had my bedroom wall-papered with great shots of Bob Gibson, Tom Seaver (who passed away this week), Vida Blue, and so many of the great pitchers of the day.

Bob Gibson! BOO! However, Mickey Lolich did out duel him in 1968! Denny McClain was supposed to be the star, but Lolich turned it up when it counted. Gibson had a great series too.

Loved Vida Blue too, and the entire A's dynasty of that era. Reggie Jackson, Rollie Fingers, Catfish Hunter, Blue Moon Odom and so on, along with their colorful uniforms and owner.
