Easy call there and probably a good play by the D

Well, they can call the really glaringly obvious ones. That was a TD without the grab.

Great play calling that drive.

Since it worked of course.

And props to the D after the O failure previously.

Hell yeah, that was a great end to the first half. We looked shaky, but we (hopefully) end the half up.

Okay! Okay! They're reeling me back in.

Cranky first half for me. D needs to tighten it up big time.

I wonder how JC is going to adjust his D. Their first drive was almost entirely trick plays and play action, but since then they've moved the ball well. Looking for our D to come out, get a stop, and then hopefully we start to pull away with some points.

Casteel need to adjust his defense to stop the run and short pass.

...Why? Especially with some of the non-calls in this game, including a dropped ball in the endzone that was only the result of targeting. On the outside, their receivers have blocked well, but I've definitely seen some holds that weren't called.

Observations after 1.5 games:

Defense:

1) The 3-3-5 is still a porous mess that is way too small up front and way to easy to run on. It resembles
a prevent defense where you drop 8 guys off the line every down and pray nothing bad happens. Hate
to admit it but Crackers asu defense is much, much better
2) We have no pass rush (3-3-5 doesn't help)
3) Our CB's are still not PAC12 quality

Offense:

1) Terrence Grigsby and Nick Wilson are pleasant surprises. Wilson in particular looks a little like Kadeem
with better speed
2) The interior OL (Bundage and Gurrola especially) are getting shoved around. The OT's are good
3) The WR's, when Anu can get the ball to them, match the hype
4) Last but certainly not least, Anu Solomon looks like he has potential but ACCURACY may be a problem.
Last week against a god-awful UNLV defense he completed just over 55% of his passes.......this week he
is hovering around 50% at the half. That kind of completion% is simply not going to get it done. Our ability
to get to the 6-7 win range this year will, IMO, hinge on the ability of Anu to start completing the high
percentage throws this offense offers. I think he needs to get to 60% to get us back to another 7 win
season with a chance to get an 8th in a bowl.

Defense need to find a way to stop them and make some play. Casteel need to stop trying to safe and be aggressive with his play calling. For Arizona to win this game, The Defense need to make play. Our Offense cant carry them if this UTSA keep on moving the ball like they are doing.

We're going to be fine. I just put on a my game day shirt. Sorry, got caught up with other stuff and didn't have it on to start. Put it on...CATS drive and score.

"jesus dmjcat...its AS second game as a fresh...he'd gonna get better" I completely agree..........Whether he can get up to 60% though remains to be seen and is the single biggest thing, IMO, between a 3rd winning season and 98% of this board screaming for BBall to start (wait.....some posters are already doing that!)

Game summarized: Defense getting torched especially on the edges, no real pressure. Offense settled for two fgs when on good drives down the field. Anu for some reason took a safety instead of throwing it away, Parks got smoked by some UTSA lineman.

Anu started off slow last week too, 9 for 20 or something and ended up with really nice stats.

I thought a couple of his misses were just throw a ways too. Playing like a junior, not like a RS frosh playing his first away game.

He had 4 orange jerseys in his face. I am not sure if he realized he was out of the pocket. Also even if he did throw it away it might have been a tough punt for Riggleman, only had 12 yards to punt it instead of 15. Might have been blocked for a TD, and at best a very short field for UTSA.

Not really upset with that play all that much.

The d will adjust, they usually perform better the second half. I also expect Anu to get things going. Its Anu's first road game, it wasn't going to be bump free.

Well, that play pretty much sums up the 3-3-5.........we have made the decision to drop 7-8 and hope their QB doesn't torch us. After 3 years RRod hasn't recruited a single PAC12 DLineman. Hopefully Griffin develops during his redshirt year.

If he was in the pocket and threw it away, it is a safety. Why not make the throw and take a chance if he wasn't sure that he was out of the pocket?
