Ristic in the middle of the key for a ten footer IS his shot. We can get him that all game. And if UW tries to double, Ayton should clean up the glass or one of our wings needs to crash. If we execute we should get a good shot EVERY SINGLE POSSESSION.

You mean because they're 2.5 feet closer to the basket? Time for the halftime warmups....
In case you haven't noticed, Ayton/Ristic don't normally shoot from that spot on the floor..........which is exactly
what Hopkins knows and is willing to give up.
Every 2-3 matchup zone leaves that shot open. Watch any Syracuse game over the last 20 years and you would see the same thing.

Every possession we didn't turn the ball over, we got a good shot.

Huh? We usually get a lot of those midrange open shots, especially Ayton and Ristic.

Just not hitting them tonight.

Yeah, we're not getting killed but still our standard response to the zone, in any of its forms, well, it makes it hard to be optimistic. We're the better team but we're not our best under this condition. we have to get where we are our best under this very condition.
I guess I"m hoping for a better 2nd half, which we usually have under Miller

I have always been the most scared of Syracuse in the tournament. Tonight against this zone we are seeing why. We are going to struggle against Washington as long as Hopkins is there with the 2 3 matchup zone.

i would say we're horrible at entry passes. but horrible isn't strong enough a word.

have we ever been particularly good at them under Miller though?

Well what we're probably going to do is lose in either the round of 32 or 16 as both of those games will probably basically be coin flips considering how this team plays against decent teams that employ decent zones.

I remember complaining about entry passes back in Lutes prime. Wounder if "terrible entry passes" is an issue outside the UofA bubble. . .

I think Miller needs to think about tweaking his pack line in the post and have Ayton front Dickerson instead of playing behind him.

We don't have a coaching problem. We have an execution problem. Every fan watching and the announcers all see what Arizona needs in this game. And so does Miller and his staff. The players have a hard time because they're on the floor experiencing it. Against this zone it's unnatural to play against. The more you play against it, the more comfortable you get. You can see our bigs beginning to carve it up. As Monty pointed out, our guard play has left a lot to be desired. Trier is starting to make plays. But what has anyone else done?
