So do we think the Zu vs. Jaime matchup on Saturday will decide CPOY?
I think if we win... It's Zu's award
I tend to agree. Unless one of them really goes off (40 & 20).
I hope Zu get's it. Would hate for the award to go to someone that sounds like a Control agent:
IMNSHO, the biggest obstacle for Zu is that the uclans have won the conference championship by several games, regardless of the outcome on Saturday.
The fact that he leads in BOTH scoring & rebounds is exceptional, for sure!!
But, the ambiguity between "POY" (favoring his statistical performance) and "MVP" (favoring team performance) muddies the waters.

There's a lot at stake. It's March. usc and ucla will be in the ncaa tourney. can we beat either of them?
I don't see us beating either of them. I think we get swept this week, win one game in the Pac tourney, and one and done in the NCAA tournament. This team is fading at the worst time. A sudden resurgence yielding a deep post season run is highly unlikely. My prediction tonight: USC 76 Arizona 67
USC has taller guards that posted Kerr up. Tyger isn't going to do that, but Kerr isn't really quick enough to be the primary defender on him. I expect that to be Ramey. Bailey could try and post up Kerr, and while Bailey has a huge upside, I don't see UCLA running its offense through the 4th or 5th option on the floor. The ball flows through UCLA's best players, which are Tyger, Jacquez, and Bona.
The match-up issue is trying to guard Jacquez, who is very hard to guard. ASu threw a lot at him and nothing stuck. Henderson will likely get the assignment, but you'll likely see a lot of picks to try and get Zu or Ballo on Jacquez. This happened a bunch the first time we met, and Jacquez had a bad shooting night, going 5-17 (1-6 from deep). I would expect him to have a better game tomorrow.

As far as I'm concerned it's already decided.
National media has been trending big time in Jaquez's favor. Think it has much more to do with ucla's overall success, though.
Don't Pac coaches decide who gets it? I doubt they care what the media says.

Well Cronin cares.
As long as he doesn't get carried off by a flying monkey he's probably ambivalent.
