Got a chance.

Well we look like we figured some stuff out at end of half - need stops and better shots
Our end of half/game plays don’t look good so I hope we aren’t in a nail biter

3 airballs for Love
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
clemson's already regressing to their mean
we need a big 2nd half!

Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
LLoyd should NOT have let Love back into the game. Clemson knows his tendencies and if he’s not going to drive, then he is a liability.
Terrible first half of coaching.

I will see you there, or I will see you on another time
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
Love 2-9 from the field, 3 TO's
Pelle 1-5 from the field, 2 TO's
At least we got it under 10.
I'll repeat what I said at the beginning of the game.........we need to limit the TO's. If we do that we can still win this game. Repeat the 1st half and we'll be on the 1st flight back to Tucson

Love had a few good drives last time he was in; but cannot resort to chucking 3s at end of half instead of trying to run some offense
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
i think tommy's 2-5 this season (8-13? all time) when trailing at the half
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
How many airballs has our MVP chucked so far?

Would be nice too if we could shoot better than 18% from 3

Abysmal first half. Airballs, turnovers, cold shooting but more depressing was letting Clemson score nearly 40 points.
Let’s see what this team is made of. 20 minutes left in their season.

Clemson has NEVER trailed in 2.5 games. Teams are shooting 11-58 from three against them. That is insane
We are shooting 40%/18/37 which will never get it done. Larsson and Love a combined 3-14

He stopped after he crossed mid court and CTL gave him some coaching. Not sure what CTL said.
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
Agree, meant more so that our end of half or game plays seem to always devolve to chuck a 3

The 2nd half will turn on Love's performance.
Live by Love, Die by Love.
If he can't hit wide open 3's he needs to:
1) Drive to the hole
2) Facilitate for others
If he keeps chucking with the same results we are finished

I would opine that the big arena is throwing our shooting off. But Love, Boz and Pelle have been off for a month.
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
This 100%, we are beating ourselves. Clemson is not missing open shots and capitalizing on our unforced turnoversBeachcat97 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 5:05 pmAnd yet, does their defense really look all that smothering to you?
I see Arizona making a ton of unforced errors and taking bad shots.

Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
I've been hard on Lloyd this season on purpose. He's too tight and conservative in big games. Our flaws get exploited against well coached teams with adequate talent. Love can't play sloppy against smart competition, and somehow Lloyd has not gotten that message across.

Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
It's crazy how year after year after year, Arizona shows up in the tourney and has one of their worst games of the season. Sometimes it's the 2nd round, sometimes later. Sometimes it's even the 1st round against an Ivy League team.
Game isn't over yet. But so far, only Bradley, Lewis and Ballo are dialed in. I don't wanna see Larsson and Love go out like this.

Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
Their defense is the best we've seen in the tournament. Scott Drew is an excellent coach, and Clemson made Baylor look pedestrian. Granted they missed a ton of shot like we have. But it's the pressure that messes up your timing which can cause missed shots.MrKyle wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 5:08 pmThis 100%, we are beating ourselves. Ballo too. Give the big man the ball! He won't make a free throw, but like the analyst said, the other players will.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 5:12 pm Game isn't over yet. But so far, only Bradley, Lewis and Ballo are dialed in. I don't wanna see Larsson and Love go out like this.
Exactly, and Lloyd has been too. Let's see what he comes up with the 2nd half. Half time analysts figure the game it already over.Postmaster wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 5:07 pm I would opine that the big arena is throwing our shooting off. But Love, Boz and Pelle have been off for a month.

Why didn't we press more after it worked ?
Will we see it in the second half after makes?

First 5 minutes will determine our season. Plain and simple.

Driving to rack, and motion on offense to get lanes and looks.CalStateTempe wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 5:17 pm Well, what do you want to see in the first five minutes of this half elbow
defense wasn’t great first half so would like to see better close outs and switching so we don’t get out of position and can get some stops

I want to see us hit the boards ferociously, and tie the game or lead within the first five minutes of the second half to set the tone. From there, give ourselves a decent cushion by finding creative ways to pound the ball and drive to the basket.
Re: (M) Game #36 Clemson vs. Arizona (NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) (2023-2024)
IMNSHO, at least half of our missed shots were one's we all expect to hit at a high rate - open, in-the-flow, etc.MrKyle wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 5:08 pmThis 100%, we are beating ourselves.
