I love what their defense is giving us. Blowing all those opportunities repeatedly just sucks.

Yep. And he's really a non-entity against UW's zone defense. He needs to step up his intensity and aggressiveness or he can't be on the floor. Too passive.

I don't get how the refs call that Rawle travel when they let every fast break dunk go the same way.

We're gonna need scoring from the guards at some point. Need to start looking for open shots and play smart defense.

Washington: "You know what? We're not going to guard you in the upper post."

Arizona: "Okay then we'll miss every uncontested shot in the upper post."

Trier and PJC combined for 3 points, and giving up at least 10 on defense, or lack of defense.

We have two seven footers and neither one of them can guard a guy four inches shorter that has 20 pounds on them in the paint.

With his inability to penetrate against the zone he is a very one dimensional player..........defensive. And
he's not particularly good at that. I would rather see a combination of Randolph/DS/Akot in the 2nd half........maybe
an extended audition for Randolph.

that's why I am a proponent of zone, because for whatever reason perimeter players think you can't dribble drive against it. Let's just stand around on the perimeter and play hot potato.

Yeah, we're not getting killed but still our standard response to the zone, in any of its forms, well, it makes it hard to be optimistic. We're the better team but we're not our best under this condition. we have to get where we are our best under this very condition.

Washington players are loving it but every coach on their bench is worried. That was an absurdly bad half from Arizona.

Hopkins is employing a very effective zone. He is taking away any perimeter shots and giving us a bunch
of high post shots that Ristic/Ayton normally don't take (and are not used to taking).

Ayton 9/5
DR 8/7

Yeah and we are rebounding vs a zone. So Ayton and Ristic should be killing on the boards.

In case you haven't noticed, Ayton/Ristic don't normally shoot from that spot on the floor..........which is exactly
what Hopkins knows and is willing to give up.
