less than 2 hours...

On this day in 1993 Arizona was eliminated from the NCAA tournament by Santa Clara and the great Steve Nash. The unheralded Broncos held the Cats to just one field goal over 15 minutes in the second half to secure the 64-61 victory. Santa Clara only had one returning starter and several freshman on their roster. Oddly Nash wasn't the hero. On that day Pete Eisenrich led the way for the Broncos. It was basically a home game for Santa Clara as most of the fans at the Huntsman Center cheered loudly for the 15 seeded Broncos. The Wildcats managed to lose in the first round for the second straight year to a double digit seed. In 1992 East Tennessee State eliminated Arizona making 13 of 25 three point shots in the 87-80 win. The Buccaneers led by as many as 16 points and Arizona was never really in the game. Just some interesting tournament history many probably don't know.
