Out of curiosity I went to their site.
A) They’re called the Human Jukebox which is objectively awesome
B) There’s 300 of them, so no room at McKale for more than a third of them
C) Their next scheduled event is the Battle of the Bands at the Southern vs Grambling game over Thanksgiving
D) I’m sad this isn’t the away game it was supposed to be

Back in the day when McKake would host first round tournament games, Southern was there with their pep band. That band got several standing ovations and the fans immediately went for Southern Who upset their opponent and the fans were to thankful for another opportunity to see the band. Not sure they cared about the team LOL

What happened with that? Seems to go against the spirit of the agreement. Just guessing Southern was offered a more lucrative deal than they would have made hosting Arizona. Maybe UA just wanted to avoid another long trip so closely after going to Durham.
Meanwhile, SWAC schools get the opportunity to host power-conference opponents, which is a rarity for schools that largely have to play grueling non-conference schedules filled with road games against power-conference schools to bring in money to support the entire athletic department.
“These teams are very under-resourced, and they’re forced to basically go on the road constantly. As a result, it becomes very difficult for them even if they have a talented team to get selected to the NCAA Tournament,” Pac-12 Deputy Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich said. “We thought it would be meaningful if we offered to do a true sort of series, like Power 5 leagues have done, but actually play road games.”
As a result of this initiative, some Pac-12 student-athletes have already had the opportunity to journey to the center of the civil rights movement in Selma and Montgomery, Alabama, walking on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma and visiting the Equal Justice Initiative’s Legacy Museum in Montgomery that focuses on the historical legacy of slavery in the United States.

Thanks AW. The story is behind a paywall, so can you, or someone, detail what Southern gets out of it?
Understanding of course, that these schools get their biggest payday of the whole season while traveling.

Looks like they get a future game in Baton Rouge and the high end of the typical buy game payout which is between $80,000 and $95,000.
