A thread inspired by BJBJ's comment in another thread about having the best Indian in India, arabic in Yemen, etc, etc

What are your top 5 meals, those meal that just blew you away and you'll remember till your last breath. Sure the company might have been nice, but damn that food was killer and you haven't been able to find its contemporary since.

I'll start:

1. Azafran Mendoza Argentina, Steak, red wine, just divine

(the Llama steak I had in Salta, Argentina was pretty yummy too. Remember that fondly.)

2. A biryani/lamb dish in an courtyard setting in Mysore India.
(honorable mention; India is just awesome for street food and no place else comes close; maybe rocky point street food in second place)

3. Swan Oyster Depot, Polk St, San Francisco. multiple times, always great with a cold one beer and or white wine.

4. The huge sampler platter (don't know the name) of Emirati food at the Arabian tea house, Dubai.

5. Gin drinks of any persuasion and type/flavor? My favorite being the Peppercorn. With hearty locally sources English pub food? in a British pub in Warwick in the country-side with your rooms up a spiral staircase upstairs?!? With full English breakfast and tea service in the morning before heading to Warwick Castle? Seriously the restaurant could exist is SF, NYC, DC and would just kill it. Name on a top 5 pub list in England in 2017 and truly lived up to its billing.

Definitely not as well traveled but I've had some of my best meals ever the last 5 months in Chicago and Denver.

Au Cheval cheeseburger in Chicago

Assortment of oysters, shrimp, caviar and calamari at Jax Fish House in Denver

Dry aged wagyu steak with an assortment of meat centered appetizers at Butcher's Bistro in Denver

Charcuterie and an octopus dish at the Purple Pig in Chicago

Chef's platter at Chef Alisha's in Tucson

I went to Disfrutar last night. It was the ( . )( . )

30 course tasting menu, absolutely bonkers what they create, and the service is top notch too.

No. 1: Baia Chia in the Esqualine in Rome. http://www.ristorantebaiachia.it/" target="_blank

Now I can't speak from completely sober memory on the first trip, but we went there twice, the second time on my insistence. My brother is the Italophile but this place was nirvana for a seafood fan like me. There were 7 of us and after discarding the menu (Italians don't use menus) we conjugated the Sardinian version of Mezedakia. In the seafood course alone there were at least 20 dishes ranging from fish to crustaceans to bivalves. Neonata, baby octopus, everything! There was so much, and of such high quality, that on the second visit we skipped the pasta course entirely. The Grappa alone, which everyone needs be wary of, was five or six different bottles, in addition to copious red and white wine throughout. I don't even remember the contorni, not out of inebriation but simply from surfeit and exhaustion. This was 10 years ago and prix fixe cost probably 500 Euro, but part of the deal was an agreement not to receive a receipt and to pay cash. I want to die there.
