Aari McDonald
When does her jersey go up in McKale?
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

I think she just passed Adia as the best player in Arizona history.

Straight up legend. I haven't seen an AZ player take a team on their back like her in a long fucking time

I don't remember what the rule is, but just put it up there now and get it over with as far as I'm concerned.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:
Re: Aari McDonald
#1 pick in the draft?

As if she'd say anything else. Nothing will stop her from playing on Friday.

Had to be the regional MOP. If she can find a way to beat UCONN, win or lose she might be the tournament MOP

Re: Aari McDonald
Good lord, that was a beautiful read. Thank you for posting it. One thing I’d disagree with ... nah lady, you do bring the sauce. I look forward to following her professional career. Too bad she won’t get to make huge bank like OAD guys. This definitely wasn’t just a pit stop for her. I really hope her ankle isn’t a hinderance.
Re: Aari McDonald
Win or lose against UConn, this team and Aari has been a joy to watch. I dream she goes off Friday night for 40 and hits a three to put us in the “ship”. Very tall odds but when you have a team that trusts and believes in each other anything is possible

Re: Aari McDonald
Aari is a joy to watch. Heck, the entire team is a joy to watch. And while Aari is the clear leader, she hardly forces any shots, and I think the biggest play of the Indiana game was Aari's assist to Pueyo for the open three. Perfect pass after Aari drove to the middle of the floor, D collapses, and Pueyo hits the open 3 in rhythm. Close game, your best player is hot, and yet, in what is perhaps the defining moment, the best player makes the right play to find the open jump shooter instead of forcing up a shot. It was like Jordan finding Kerr for the open jumper. You don't dare miss the shot and let down the best player on the court!
Whatever happens, Aari deserves to be mentioned with the all-time great Wildcats from any sport. Elliot and Kerr, Bibby, Bruschi, Francona, Finch, etc. So glad she came back for her senior season.

Aari is a junkyard dog. If she was on UConn she'd be the NCAA Player of the Year.

Not a single vote for POY or for Adia for NCOY. Thought one of them might get a vote

Disgraceful. Not sure what more they're supposed to do.

That's really going to piss me off if she doesn't get her jersey retired.
Much better player than Steve Kerr and Jason Gardner.

Does the Ann Meyers Drysdale award she won last year count for the 2nd option?Merkin wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 7:50 am That's really going to piss me off if she doesn't get her jersey retired.

Has to be considering the really flimsy ones Kerr and Gardner got in on. Most Inspirational for Kerr, and Gardner was Freshman of the Year, along with the Naismith best player under 6' award if memory serves.
Re: Aari McDonald
Then retire her jersey for that. We all know she's more than earned it. Don't care what excuse they use.

That was great but we need her to have a much better game than Damon did against Arkansas in 94

Man, this team is unleashing some serious payback to the tone-deaf East Coast drones presuming to run this tournament.

If the voting was before the tournament, Adia should maybe have gotten a few votes but I can live with that.
But anybody who has watched Aari for 5 or 10 minutes should have voted for her. Disgraceful.

The national media should be ashamed of how they’ve ignored this young woman for two years now. The fact that they are just now introducing her to the nation is a fucking travesty.

I feel awful that Aaris’s senior year was the year of Covid and no fans.... Mckale would have been electric this year and you know our fans travel like no other fan base for the NCAA tournament.

Too bad she is leaving, but she is making the right decision. Strike the iron while it is hot.
If she gets the MOP, she qualifies under the Miles Simon rule for jersey retirement. Get it done Aari!
