Lifetime contract. Give her whatever she wants.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

exactly this.
if we ever let her get away we'll be regretting it forever.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

Funny what happens when you hire someone who actually loves our university and has passion for the program. It doesn’t matter how bad we might of been and it shows you what can be done. Somehow Robbins missed that one

A former alumni with assistant coaching experience in the PAC at UDub after her playing days.

I've mentioned it elsewhere, but whoever runs social for the women, they should run everyone. Instagram post last night was a single action picture, captioned "Not our night. We'll be back Sunday." This morning, another post with game pics, captioned "We're on to Cal. Time to get better." No graphics, no score, no anything cheesy like stupid football and mens basketball accounts do
Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
Nice rebound from the Stanford loss, beating Cal 69-33.

Maybe he hasn’t had time for Miller’s extension because he was working on Adia’s first...

Sure, let's go with that.EastCoastCat wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 2:17 pm Maybe he hasn’t had time for Miller’s extension because he was working on Adia’s first...
Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
Just another opportunity to piss off Miller and make him leave. Robbins is a ASSU cocksucker who swallows (not to take anything away from Barnes who is very deserving)

Felt like Adia was throwing a bit of shade when she mentioned how this stabilizes the program and helps recruiting and how fast this all happened.

What is the story on how Adia - a first time head coach going to a lousy program at Arizona - convinces Arri to follow her to Arizona?
How the hell did she pull that off?

Through their relationship when Barnes was an assistant at Washington. Convinced her to transfer from UDub to Arizona when Adia took the job and take a chance.

Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
But Washington was a good program. And I understand being close to an assistant coach... but following that unproven coach to a bad program? On the surface, it just seems like an odd (bad) choice by Arri and a huge gamble.EastCoastCat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 9:00 am Through their relationship when Barnes was an assistant at Washington. This was a transformative act in the lives of Arri/ Adia and Arizona Women's Basketball.
Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
I think UDub had the Plum girl and Ari knew she wouldn’t be highlighted and that was another reason she made the change

Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
Adia's next big challenge will be life after Arri. Can Arizona be anything more than a middle of the road program (that is a huge step up) without arguably the best player in all of college basketball? I honestly don't know the answer to that. She has really helped in recruiting and I love her 40 mins of hell defense but will others step up or will they be the supporting cast for another to be named super star.
What is important now and I believe a distinct possibility is Arizona will be in the final four after Monday's game.

Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
I was reading Adia signed an extension recently. It's good she is an alum, SEC powers don't mess around for women's basketball. When UCLA lost Nikki Caldwell to LSU, she went from about 400k to 900K. Hope she stays a long time with you guys.

Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
Anyone know what Adia's bonus structure is? Curious how much extra she's getting for this run.

Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
Don't forget that the seniors on this team went 6-24 as freshmen in 2017-18. What a turnaround.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
Old contract, but the new one is probably similar.
https://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/ ... 460367001/
Barnes’ performance bonuses, worth up to $240,000 annually, created no such discussion. She can get $10,000 if the Wildcats reach the NCAA Tournament, and $20,000 if they win their first-round game, with escalating postseason bonuses topping out at $50,000 for winning the NCAA title.
Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
Feels like it should be waaaaay more with how quick this turnaround was.

Needs to win coach of the year regardless of what happens on Friday. She's more than earned it.

Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
Can anyone comment on Adia's recruiting outside of Aari? Reese was a big signing from Texas, Nixon was the best player out of PHX a few years back, and there seems to be depth all over the roster. Talent seems fine. The home crowd must be an impressive sight for hosting visitors. I attended a women's game last year and couldn't believe how many fans were there. Must've been 7 or 8K in attendance, with a lively crowd to boot. Have only started paying attention to the women's team for two seasons now - all thanks to Adia!TheCat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 10:37 am Adia's next big challenge will be life after Arri. Lol. I love that they omitted us. That’s bulletin board material for sure.
Re: Women's basketball under Adia Barnes
Aari was asked about it at the media session. She’s like yeah that’s frustrating. You’ll see our response on the court. ESPN has the clip

Pac 12 showing Adia's presser live. Amazed they're paying attention enough to do that.
