Great win, even though Brink did not play. Jada is the future and hopefully she can lead the program to the postseason before she leaves.

Btw, Adia has done a great job of keeping this team together after all the departures and suspension of Gilbert. They are playing with 7 players. Happy for Adia.

Brink was out, but the performance of Arizona's seven players was impressive. Their defense and resilience throughout was great!

Jada Williams had probably her best game yet, and carried the team in the 4th quarter.

Helena was really impressive too!

Except for the daily format, and likely not getting a bye in the Pac-12 tourney, this will be a dangerous team in Vegas...

... and a lot of fun to watch!

BTFD!!!!

Congrats to the gals! Nice way to bow out at Maples with their seemingly endless VanDerVeer dynasty. At age 70, I wonder if she bows out after this season, rather than dealing with the increased travel in the ACC.

So do we have any chance at an at large bit?

Also, what happened with Gilbert to get her suspended and how long is her suspension?

I think we have a real chance at a bid now. Our last two home games against the LA schools are going to be a pretty tough task, but if we can win one and win a game or two in the tournament I think we have a shot.

It'll be interesting to see where Bracketology has us when it updates tomorrow.

No idea what happened with Gilbert.

I think we'll be in the Next Four Out on the next update.

Gilbert is in concussion protocol.

All the good will after the Stanford win sure disappeared fast.

I know the program likes to present what a great job Adia is doing with so few players, but let's not forgot who's mostly responsible for having so few players in the first place.

With our fan support it shouldn’t be a problem attracting a great coach if and when we make a change.

All the talent leaving is disturbing.

She was gone waaaaaay before this weekend, tbh. Now that they have an emergency back up, she was superfluous. I giver her credit for staying this long. She’ll go back the east coast where a ball pounder is appreciated. All the best to her. Next…

After Arizona’s sweep of the Bay Area schools on Feb. 25, Wildcats’ head coach Adia Barnes said that sometimes there’s “addition by subtraction.” While she was not just speaking about sophomore guard Kailyn Gilbert, Gilbert was obviously part of that statement.

“If you just saw the culture and our chemistry and our cohesiveness, it’s remarkable right now,” Barnes said. “And sometimes throughout the year you have addition by subtraction, and we’ve sold that and you know we’ve had to eliminate some things. It has been a tough situation and we are better because of it. Way better. You don’t even understand the difference.”

I have a feeling it's more about some players being a cancer that caused the dissension, not Adia. Watching how they have played the last month, you can see they are enjoying themselves on the court.

I’ll give Adia a pass this year to clean house but next year better not be the same shitstorm when it comes to her roster.

I can't find a broadcast for tonite's game against USC. Is it possible that the fucking Pac-12 Network is not going to do it???

According to this, it's 10:30pm. Not sure what time zone that is, but certainly doesn't sync up with the 5pm game time. Tape delayed perhaps?

What pisses me off about this is that Pac 12 Arizona is airing... football. Yeah don't bother airing the women playing a top 10 game with the tournament on the line, let's watch a replay of UCLA/Arizona.

Oh, and then after that re-air the ASU women get their game live AGAIN. Why does that terrible team always get priority?

Have to say, one of the best games I've watched this season! Maybe the most heartbreaking, too!

This team is really fun to watch. They could make some noise if they can get into the tourney!

Whatever has been going on behind the scenes, what is happening on the court validates Adia as far as I'm concerned. This is a great freshman class, and should be fun to follow moving forward!

Is the format still the same as the last time we played in it? Because I'd love to support the team by going to a few games with our great home court advantage.

On Saturday, we saw two impressive, high level contenders for the NC championship in their respective tourneys...

Arizona Pac-12 Tournament Schedule

Post by TheCatInTheHat »

The Cats play Washington Wednesday night (7 MT.) If they win, following chalk, they'd likely play USC Thursday night (7 MT.) Continuing with the same premise, Friday night would be UCLA (8 MT), and Saturday would be Stanford (3 MT.) Not likely, of course, but if anybody's hoping for a Cinderella run, those would be the times. All Pac-12 Network until Saturday, when the Pac-12 lists ESPN, but there seems to be some question about that in the listings, with Kansas at Houston showing in that time slot.

Helena really battled with JuJu last night - they covered each other much of the game.

Helena: 7-17 FG; 2-5 3pt; 4 rb; 6 ast; 6 st; 1 TO - 19 points

JuJu W: 5-14 FG; 0-6 3pt; 8 rb; 3 ast; 1 st; 9 TO - 17 points

JuJu is amazing, for sure, but Helena really disrupted her game like no other player!!!

I'm really gonna miss Helena - one of my favorite U of A women's players!

The frosh are really coming around; I think Skyler Jones has a great future! And, Courtney Blakely is a dynamo!

In real time on TV it looked like a foul, and one that could be reviewed and maybe be worse - but the replay showed it was all ball!

"She touched the ball!"
