How soon for the men's team? Krzyzewski's concern for Covid-19 is well known and they already have canceled 3 games.

Huge game today.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

#10 Oregon Game On ESPN Tonight
So it's #11 Arizona hosting #10 Oregon in prime time on the east coast on ESPN. Oregon has beaten 3 teams by 20, Colorado by 30, Utah by 40, and Cal by 60. They squeaked by WSU on the road by 4, lost by 2 to UCLA, and they lost at #1 Stanford by 13. After all of Sabrina Ionescu's cheap histrionics against us last year, I'd love to tag the Ducks with another loss. So tonight, full attention to the women's game while we DVR the late men's roadie at OSU and watch that tomorrow.

Oregon Win
Love how ESPN stuck around for the drum and counted out the 9 wins. Adia doesn't seem to need the help, but there's a recruiting video for her.
Re: 2020-2021 season
That was a major league ass beating and I loved watching it. Final score not indicative of how close that game was. Midway through the 3rd it was a trouncing

It was a nice win and I enjoyed watching us kick Oregon's butt, but man our shooting has dropped from what I saw at the beginning of the year.

Not sure if she’ll play right away, but this girl can shoot, which is easily our team’s biggest weakness.

Re: 2020-2021 season
Seems hard enough to graduate from HS, immediately start the first semester of your freshman year in college late, start practicing with the college team in mid-season with no chance to hit the weights or learn the plays, and also be expected to be an immediate contributor. Also could be a team chemistry issue with the other gals who've been working away trying to earn PT. I'm assuming this is about getting her involved with the team and getting the advantage of an early jump during a year when it doesn't count against eligibility. Maybe I'm wrong and they'll throw her out in the corner to take shots when they get zoned, but even that is tougher than you might think, and she still has to be able to play some defense and handle the ball at this level.
Re: 2020-2021 season
Hopefully it's taking advantage of the free eligibility year to get her some development and garbage time minutes. When we're beating Cal by 50, may as well develop the future.TheCatInTheHat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 3:09 pm Seems hard enough to graduate from HS, immediately start the first semester of your freshman year in college late, start practicing with the college team in mid-season with no chance to hit the weights or learn the plays, and also be expected to be an immediate contributor. Aari and Sam Thomas have to be the best defensive guard combo in the league (country?) Sam had 8 steals vs Utah.
Career leader in blocks too I think in the P12?
The whole team just bodies up on D and feasts on passing lanes. Their D is so much fun to watch.

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. No game tomorrow due to COVID within our program.

Sigh.
This is the thing I've feared all season.
hope it's a mild case, whichever person has it, and they recovery fully.

Best team in school history, with our luck the tourney will get cancelled.
Re: 2020-2021 season
Not a surprise. Hopefully it won't last beyond these games.

Re: 2020-2021 season
The accomplishments to date this season are definitely worth celebrating. Big prime time wins on ESPN and ESPN2, and another game coming up on ESPN2 at Stanford, which obviously figures to be tough. My biggest concern at this point is with the cancelled games. Of the five to be made up, only Colorado is at home. The primary issue with Washington and Oregon St is the long-range travel on some compressed schedule. You could make a case to blow those off, but you pretty much have to make up the tough roadies at UCLA and USC to have a legitimate conference record, and I'm sure the gals want to get a crack at some revenge. If and when the Pac-12 ever pulls its collective head out of the ground and makes a decision, there's some talk of cancelling the potential superspreader Pac-12 women's tournament, since there'll be no fans anyway, and they could get in some of the make-up games that way. But my concern is the sudden scheduling of a bunch of brutal mid-week games before the normal end of the regular season that could potentially hurt the competitiveness of Adia's team in the normal Friday/Sunday games.

Ladies are going to OT. Hell of a game.

Re: 2020-2021 season
So 6 pm Thursday, probably against WSU, then 9 pm Friday, probably against UCLA, and if we get there, 6 pm Sunday, probably against Stanford. If they do well in the Pac-12 tourney, they can get the 2 seed back (and remember other highly ranked teams around the country can lose in their tourneys.) Bonus coverage would be watching Stanford flatten ASU at 3 pm on Thursday. But, I'll say CTT prefers to bask in the glory of her parade-down-Mill-Ave OT home court upset (with lots of well-placed knees, hips, and elbows, as usual) and tanks it on Wednesday "due to fatigue" rather than face the embarrassment from Stanford.

Gonna miss you Aari.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Re: 2020-2021 season
The Athletic has a breakdown of all the top-10 teams based on how they did against each other as a sort of predictor of what we may see in the later rounds of the tourney.
When it comes to our PPG, Opp. PPG, Shooting %, Assists, and Turnovers, it's not looking good for our ladies when stacked up against the rest of the best of the best.

Re: 2020-2021 season
Anybody know what she's talking about?
Re: 2020-2021 season
There was a news story recently about a coach (I think men's college basketball) using a racial slur when addressing his team after a loss. I'm assuming she's referring to that incident.
