It's not unheard of though:
Marcus Smart , Cauley-Stein, Frank the Tank (although he was more back of lotto projections last year), Blake Griffin (I think he wanted to play w his bro one more year) are all recent guys who did it.

To make it work, you'd have to take out at least a million dollar insurance policy in case you get a career ending injury.

I think Greg Byrne tweeted out an article a few weeks back that no NCAA player has ever collected on one of those insurance policies.Bosy Billups wrote:To make it work, you'd have to take out at least a million dollar insurance policy in case you get a career ending injury.

Well if some HuffPost guy I'd never heard of before says it's true, it must be true. He's also saying Zeus is almost certainly gone.
I'll be glad when this is all over one way or another.

That seems counter to reality in so many ways but let's be real here:azthrillhouse wrote:Well if some HuffPost guy I'd never heard of before says it's true, it must be true. He's also saying Zeus is almost certainly gone.

(1) Dusan is going to pose a serious threat to Zeus' playing time next year.
(2) SJ is listed outside of the lottery in draft projections, and this is one of the deepest drafts ever for wings
(3) If SJ really wants to go out bigger here, and truly enjoy another year of college before turning pro - he is just like every other college kid. People seem to forget that. There are any number of reasons he might just want another year - the money is NOT going anywhere.

Re: Stanley Johnson
Why would a sports columnist from the Huffington Post know anything specific about this situation? The coaching staff have said that Stanley Johnson wants to return, but they are almost certain that, for obvious reason, Johnson will enter the NBA draft in spite of his desire to stay at Arizona. And now somebody in the know is telling him something other than this that makes the chances 60/40? It just doesn't ring true. Nor does what he's tweeting about Kaleb almost certainly going pro.

The beauty of a 60/40 split is the 100% chance that it has to be one of the two and you can't be wrong.Longhorned wrote:Why would a sports columnist from the Huffington Post know anything specific about this situation? I know not many/if any will believe me but I was hanging out this week with Stan multiple times but he sounds like he really is torn.. but with a gun to my head I say he stays. I don't know what the family situation is but I feel like that's the deciding factor.

It's my understanding that his mom and pop make OK money so that's not an issue.

I always thought a lottery pick was top 3...since those are lottery winners. Did not realize it just means non playoff teams.

Re: Stanley Johnson
From the Chad Ford draft chat today:
Why would Stanley Johnson NOT enter the draft? How many consensus Top 10 picks choose not to forego?
Chad Ford (2:51 PM)
He's not quite as high as I think the media had him rated. He's closer to 8 to 12 than the 5 to 7 range many have had him. I think he wants to go high and I think he feels another year could improve it. Especially when you consider that this incoming high school class isn't particularly strong. But it's tough to turn down a lottery pick and i do think Johnson is a lock to go in the mid to late lottery.
Re: Stanley Johnson
Wouldnt SJ by default be a top 5 pick next year. I would take SJ over anybody in this upcoming class.Coop Cat wrote:From the Chad Ford draft chat today:

I would be so excited if the Suns drafted him. (Until about 10 minutes later when they trade him for a future 2nd rounder and a bag of peanuts)Longhorned wrote:If the Suns draft him you can still watch him in the Sonoran desert.

Re: Stanley Johnson
The Suns would never draft Stanley Johnson. McDonough will go for the arcane pick that you've half never heard of and half never envisioned in the NBA. The draftee, despite being injury-prone, will end up contributing in ways that only a connoisseur can understand, and in ways that don't improve the team's record or excite the fan base. But TucsonClip and JMarkJohns will be validated when the Suns eventually are able to use him successfully as trade bait to unload an undesirable contract, along with filler. Meanwhile, the Pistons with Johnson as their centerpiece will have a renaissance replete with multiple championships, but that's a trajectory best appreciated by the lowbrow, casual fan.

Is there another Morris sibling? If no, the obvious answer is to acquire another PG who does not see himself as a part of the franchise in the long term.Longhorned wrote:The Suns would never draft Stanley Johnson. And this is how the Suns will remain as long as they are owned by Robert Sarver: Phoenix's 21st-century answer to Bill Bidwill.
