The Commissioner
6. Boston Celtics -- Aaron Gordon, F, Arizona freshman, 6-9, 220
Several league sources believe that Celtics GM Danny Ainge is locked in on Gordon. While Gordon's shooting is a concern, he is a strong rebounder and shot blocker who can defend either forward spot and has been compared to Shawn Marion. A trade is possible here, too. Ainge is always on the lookout for a make a blockbuster deal, and with Boston's assets he is more than equipped to do so.

Teams drafting 5th or lower will be sorry if they pass on AG.

Is in LA with the Lakers today.

Would hate to see him in a Lakers uni. I think he is going to have a great NBA career

If that nickname hasn't caught on by now .... Might as well be Artemis Gordon. I would think any team that doesn't have a decent defensive answer for James, George or Durant would be interested in Artemis.
Right where I want to be.

Now try and knock that battery off my shoulder!
Re: The Commissioner
Ainge basically lived in Tucson this year so it makes sense he is all over AG.
Could also be on Johnson in the 2nd round as well with one of his picks.

I mean if that were to happen, I'd have to roadie to Boston for a game.
How much game time do you realistically think AG will get this season. A solid 10-15 would be a great start!

Re: The Commissioner
On the Celtics? He would play a lot more than 10-15 minutes a night. You can't beat having Sean Miller/Brad Stevens as your college and professional coach either.CalStateTempe wrote:I mean if that were to happen, I'd have to roadie to Boston for a game.

Re: The Commissioner
I forgot about Stevens. That would be HUGE for AG's development.
Wow, hope it happens for him, even if I'd have to then follow the Celtics.

He's light skinned and can jump & dunk, I'll go on a limb and compare him to Blake Griffin.

Why do they have the combine, if they make them do the same drills again?
Hope nick is jumping higher in the individual workouts.

Re: The Commissioner
Saw on Twitter the Lakers measured his body fat at 3%.
As someone who lives in CA but doesn't follow the NBA, I would be definitely more interested in watching if the Lakers pick him. Last regular season game I saw on TV was when Luke Walton was in the rotation for the Lakers.

Combine is for pretty much for everyone not locked in to a top 5 pick. Teams only invite a certain # of players to work out after the combine.CatzManiac wrote:Why do they have the combine, if they make them do the same drills again?

So far Ive found that the Suns, Celts, Raptors, TWolves, and Magic invited Nick out.

Yes, I'm a homer. That said, AG is #1 in the entire draft in 3 categories:
1. Motor
2. Defense
3. Rebounding
Even if he is never more than average offensively, and I think he will be more than average, those three qualities win rings and never let you down. They don't flame out against Stanford in the second round. He possesses the qualities you build a foundation on.
Re: The Commissioner
Gordon isn't a starter 5+ years down the line, give me Wiggins (maybe Parker also) any day.

What! Please elaborate.NYCat wrote:Gordon isn't a starter 5+ years down the line, give me Wiggins (maybe Parker also) any day.
As for the nickname, I never really bought into The Commissioner. I like Batman and all but it just seems kind of meaningless and has nothing to do with his character as a player or person. I just don't think of him as laying down or upholding the law. Sorry, Winger, nothing personal. But that's just me, and a lot of you guys LOVE the NN, so maybe I'm just missing what's right here. His jumping, leaping and hanging ability combined with the rhyming power of his last name makes his organic, most marketable NN pretty obvious, even if it is a knockoff, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Nike roll out a campaign if he finds NBA success. He is potentially a very marketable player, especially if he lands in the right city.
I think JR and JE may be better rebounders than AG, but not for a lack of effort on his part. The character and consistent energy is off the charts. Plus, he's young, and lots of his weaknesses can be improved. I love that defense. Same with JE, and if a GM thinks that back will be healthy, he's the clear #1 pick IMO. Can't pass up bigs like that in any era. I also think Wiggins is a bust. What do people see in this guy? Even in a more spaced out NBA game, I don't see him being a star simply because of his athleticism. Parker looks like a shot burner but he's still a talent. If I'm picking in a vacuum, I'm probably going JE, JP, AG. I have only seen video of Exum, and I have to admit he looks really good. If I had seen him in a couple live games I might be tempted to put him ahead of Parker and Gordon.
That Vonleh is projected to go ahead of AG is kind of surprising. I think Vonleh is a good talent but I wouldn't pass on AG for him.
Re: The Commissioner
He'll be called Flash or Air. I'd call him Gordon Jump, if Cincinnati had a team and he played there.

Re: The Commissioner
Newazcats, I was ranking the rebounding by position to a certain extent. On the whole, Embiid and Randle might be better. Gordon's eventual position is the 3, and he is an elite rebounder there. Randle and Embiid are very good for their positions, but but not elite.
Frankly, in pure potential, Embiid, AG and Smart would be my top 3. They are all physically potentially dominant. I don't see that in Parker or Randle. Wiggins, I just don't think he has the drive to do it. I would think Paul George is his max, where he's good enough to lead you to not the NBA Finals. I could see him fading into the "just here to cash checks" realm pretty fast too.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft/mo ... sourceId=16 Aaron Gordon Boston Celtics (25 - 57)COLLEGE: Arizona HT: 6-9 WT: 220 POS: PF
The Celtics continue to explore all options, and after panning the draft most of the year, Celtics boss Danny Ainge now likes several players. I think Gordon and Marcus Smart are the top two contenders for this pick of the remaining players on the board, with the edge right now toward Gordon. Both Gary Harris and Doug McDermott will get looks here, as well.
Trades always remain an option for Boston. If they can move this pick for a young impact player, they won't hesitate.

Will probably go one or two before Lakers pick. But please, Lakers, get him somehow. Nick too. It's all about me, me, me!Merkin wrote:

Victor Oladipo needed just one day of practice to reach a conclusion about Orlando Magic rookie forward Aaron Gordon and rookie point guard Elfrid Payton.
Oladipo decided he needs to work on his lob passes, because Gordon and Payton have the ability to sprint up the floor, elevate and throw down vicious dunks.
"They're really good and they can be really, really, really good," Oladipo said.

Orlando needs to go back to this uniform template.
Also, I'm really excited to see how Aaron develops at the next level.

6pts 8rebs 1ast 1blk in 29mins as a starter against Miami. 2-6FTs as well...
Magic are playing the Pacers right now. He picked up 3 fouls in the first 6 mins of the game. Little too aggressive on defense

Pretty nice endorsement for future one and done players. But one of the best things I've ever done is to go to the University of Arizona. I came to understand about winning and pressure there.
