Ok, over the weekend I tried watching the Ballislife AA game. Before we go further, I know it's an allstar game, and adjusted my defensive expectations accordingly.

Good lord, that was some of the worst basketball I've ever seen in a quasi-organized setting. The D made the McD's game look like the Bad Boy Pistons and there were double figure alley oops chucked out of bounds.

I know it's an allstar game. Ferguson and Alkins have bright futures in Arizona uniforms. That game showcased nothing, though. Ugh.

given the summer circuit is so important to college recruiting, I am surprised it continues to devolve into chuck and duck basketball. The coaches can't be in every high school gym to recruit, but the summer AAU and, to some extent, all star circuit allows one setting to watch multiple players. It is more important than the school season...so it is surprising the coaches haven't exerted some pressure to have the games truly showcase all applicable skills.

Both he and Kobi will have ups and downs, but they are both highly rated guys for a reason. That's why if we get Trier and PJC back, this could be a dangerous team.

His team was down big at the half, and the coach gave a 5 minute impassioned speech about how there was only one way for them to get back into the game, and that was to play as a team. He spoke about how they needed to rely on each other, share the ball and help on defense.

Then, just before they headed back out on the floor, he asked if the players had anything to add. Fly chimed in "you all just need to throw me the ball and get out of the way and I'll handle this."
