Anyone still wondering if Goodman had Miller/UA's blessing to run with his story?

I bet it was all coincidence.

Results wouldn't have been back till Friday and AT wasn't cleared for Thursday.

Meh, Goodman said on a radio call both Miller and Triers family kept ignoring his calls and swerving him lol. I don't think they wanted to discuss it.

It was going to come out though. Reporters have a job to do, this was newsworthy to any college hoops fan, and the mystery was crazy to most. I'm actually surprised it took somebody so long to run with it.

Also if Arizona wanted it out there it wouldn't keep being framed as "PEDs" as Goodman keeps spewing. While technically not incorrect, to most people who don't know the details, it sounds like he took something to get bigger/stronger/faster. Hopefully Zo talks about the circumstances around it at some pt because if the NCAA Granted his appeal, it can't be as bad as "getting popped for PEDs". I doubt he ever talks on it, but maybe when they do a story on his tumultuous year prepping for the final 4 weekend ;)

1 hour after the game ended and I check in on ESPN and SI pages...Only mention of the game is how UClA is back among the best in the game. WTF? Even if you don't mention Arizona, the #3 team in the country just lost and they have UK all over the front page. Whatevaaa

Yes it was, except for this part: Arizona didn't play its best game on Saturday.

I think he's saying Arizona can play better going forward. Zo for sure, he was a little rusty at first. Once he gets rolling, watch out.

We had a pretty big lull there in the 2nd half without scoring. We definitely have better games in us, which is what I think he was saying

That's how I looked at what he said as well, and I think he's right. We could have played even better than we did, and other teams should watch out if we do (especially in the tourney).

::::

Another thing I liked from that article was this bit:
That building doesn't always sell out, but get hated Arizona in there on a Saturday afternoon, both teams ranked and fighting for a league race? Yeah, it was terrific.
We're always the biggest draw for every other team's home game season lol
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

Only games I can think of that were close were the Pac-12 final that we finally won and the win at Utah v Wright and Poetl where TJ balled out.

But yeah I thought exactly that after last night. Most satisfying win since the dismantling of #1 seed Duke.

I've given up on them. College basketball is so far down the priority list now. They're totally in the NBA's jock now. All they care about is March and who is coming out (no, not the closet).

I view next week as an ideal chance to get any chemistry hic-cups worked out, while most likely winning 2 more games.

There have been a TON of articles about us since late Saturday. Couple of guys have us at #5 in their power rankings. Gary Parrish, who usually hates us, moved us up to #7. I can concede the Gonzaga game, but can you imagine if we hadn't been jobbed against Butler?

Zo is an effin' Dude!

Guy comes back and puts in a terrific game, critically playing within the team.

He brings special juice, though his physical make-up has to be needing more quickness and reserve. Why say "needing"? Well, because he hasn't played games.

A lot's been said about Zo's involvement in practices while being kept out of games, especially the mentions of him being the outstanding player in practices. The obvious inference is that practice is the whole issue. Well, it's an issue, but you don't get the quickness and reserve edges you get from games, especially fourth quarters in close games. You don't.

But here's my real reason for posting this fan-y piece on Zo. The dude never ever lost a beat in his TEAM positives during his whole sit-down! Never. Think about it and remember images of this guy on the bench when the team needed bench support.

For you guys who've played, think about sitting out these games. You're not injured---that's a different deal. You're sitting because of something you didn't do and had no or little control of.

Just an mazing guy and a genuine hero for us. Real. A man.

Yes.

Though the main difference for me was I was expecting nothing vs Duke, glad to be in the building (a friend couldn't go so I flew (in my jeep) to Anaheim and crashed at a friend's apartment in downtown Orange), had front row upper deck between the midcourt line and three point line on our shooting side in the 2nd half (I was right in line with Jamelle's shot and the hoop from behind him vs UConn), and after being down big at the half, I still did not have any kind of anxiety or hope. That lightning bolt was all gravy for that season, a 20 minute dance of total freedom from all of life's challenges. It was my Burning Man.

UCLA Saturday? First, I had a new TV delivered at noon. So I frantically hooked up cables, realized to get my sound system to work for Netflix from the TV I needed an optic line, and I was short one HDMI cable for the new Xbox One S I had on its way, so I had to bust down to Target and grab some cables, put the TV together, move my 12 year old Sony 720/60Hz projection paperweight out of the way (biggest mistake I ever made...not paying the $14 for them to haul it away for me. Even Goodwill doesn't take projection TVs), and get everything programmed before tip. I made it with 30 minutes to spare. I gained 5 " (every man's dream), 4K (well, with my Xbox and Netflix), UHD...never has a pre-game looked so fucking amazing in my living room.

And from the tip, I was a gnarled ball of nerves. It was as if the extra visual clarity created extra emotional depth in my cranium. Actually, it was more like a full body tense. I yelled. I screamed. I did the thing where I am muttering over and over that we are going to fucking lose the game. How the fuck? Really? His feet weren't even set...how the fuck did he make that three. C'mon...seriously...how can you stop a team that makes 3s shooting fadeaways from their left tit? Fuck....you have to grab that ball, Dusan...it is on the ground right next to you. You had an easy two now they get three. Fuck, the lead is 2, what the hell? Seriously...we are going to lose this game? We had this. What the hell? Sure...just ruin my birthday. We had this shit. How the fuck can we lose this game?!?. (silence as we hit a 3. Silence as we hit a shot. Silence as we get a stop. Silence as PJC drives to the hole) DAGGER, MOTHERFUCKERS. Miller says NCAA was "extremely fair."

http://allsportstucson.com/2017/01/23/s ... rier-case/" target="_blank
It’s a process that had no history,” he said.

“I think the NCAA did the best they could. They were extremely fair. I think they really had the student-athlete welfare at the forefront of a lot of things. It might not have felt that way to the outside, but they were very communicative, very direct, vert cooperative, trying to hold to the standards that they need to hold these types of issues to.”

Miller also praised school officials, including president Ann Weaver Hart and athletic director Greg Byrne, who last week accepted the same position at Alabama.

“We couldn’t ask for more cooperation, and putting in incredible hours and time into this, just to make sure the process was done right and what’s fair is fair,” Miller said. “The outcome came, and I’m looking forward to not looking back.”

Haha, I understand the feeling, it's happened to me so many times. But for some reason I never felt like we were gonna lose that game, at least not after about the first 10 minutes. It almost felt like the 13-14 team, where (pre Ashley injury) I just knew we couldn't lose. Nice to feel that way again. I've been dreaming of what it would look like to have Lauri and Zo in the floor together since the very first time I saw Lauri. So happy that has been realized, can't wait to see where we take it

So happy that has been realized, can't wait to see where we take it
I RARELY feel this way, but the game felt so much like that Duke S16 game where Miller had the guys in the right mindset and they were there focused and ready to make a statement. I've watched enough AZ ball over the last 20 years to know that feeling on the rare occasion it happens. About halfway into the 1st half I had that feeling that we were not going to be stopped. This team has the nastiness in spades, and I think that was in full view on Saturday. You know it when you see it, its the only way to explain it.

Exactly, just like in the Duke game you could see in the second half especially how they answered Simmons BS technical that they werent looking back.

Nasty and tough, a thing of beauty, taking out a half seasons frustration at the NCAA out on UCLA.

Also I too was doing the Miller sideline coaching impression on my couch, just an intense game that needed a few dechuetes black buttes to calm down from.

The Xbox One is where you messed up. The Playstation 4 is so powerful it makes its own HDMI cables out of common household items such as toilet paper rolls, paper clips and women's hair ties. But yea, that game was intense. I've been doing a much better job keeping it together around my kids the past few seasons, but I was a wreck for this game. I think I cussed, screamed and name called more in that game than either of the Wisconsin Elite 8 games. Felt like the old days when both us and UCLA were top programs and that game decided who was going to win the conference.

My wife wasn't feeling well and fell asleep on the couch at halftime, so me and my 7-year-old watched at a really low volume while whispering occasionally and doing a lot of silent fist pumps. Made it a lot easier not to look like the total maniac I was on the inside.

Wish I would have had that confidence, would have saved me aging 10 years. I wasn't confident until we got that stop with 1:49 left when we were up 8. I told my wife if we get a stop here we win. In the back of my mind though, was Bryce Alford fresh off of two ridiculous late made 3's (ignoring another being blocked), making 3 circus shots in a row to somehow send it in to overtime. That offensive rebound after Kadeem missed the layup with a boat load of time on the shot clock (?!?!?) and 1:32 left in the game was huge, and then obviously Lauri's and-one was the dagger that made u feel you could start celebrarting.

Finally got a chance to catch the game on the Pac-12 Network last night. I really liked how Allonzo passed the ball. He consistently jumpstopped under control and was able to find Lauri and others for open shots. That's already a big improvement from last year, when he only had a total of 30 assists in 27 games last season. Love the rebounding numbers too. He still needs to quicken that jumpshot release, although at this level it probably won't matter all that much.

This is a good point. He never pressed against UCLA and played a very mature game. He took what the defense gave him and didn't force it when it wasn't there.

The late drive when he got to the middle of the lane and kicked it to Lauri for the 3 was a great example. He could have forced the turnaround, but stayed calm, pivoted and hit an open shooter.

It matters a lot because we have such balanced firepower. When Zo kicks to Lauri, Lauri will make the shot. We don't need him to do it all himself because our guys can all shoulder the load.

Hopefully Bowie is catching on about how to be agood boy, though.

Watched the first half on my phone, during naptime in the middle of a Disney trip. Didn't get to watch the 2nd half live as we had "Jedi training" for my 4.5 y/o. Walking back into Disneyland, and throughout the rest of the afternoon I got a 1/2 dozen "Bear Down" as I was sporting a UA jacket, and my son a UA sweatshirt.

It's always an awesome thing to see other fans outside of AZ.

On a side note, I did get to watch the USC game at the ESPNzone in Downtown Disney. It always surprises me that I am basically in LA, and the game is on one solitary small television, with no sound and really nobody outside of me and my wife watching.

Traffic.

Got a Bear Down during the women's march here in Barcelona, turned around and this dude was like "You watching the UCLA game tonight man?"

Hahaha, he didn't know who he was asking.
