Not in an advanced league. Generally, a team marks a man and sorts it out on the field with some subtle and well placed metal spikes to the player. Clean enough not to get called, but dirty enough he'll feel it for days. Then you buy the bloke a beer later, laugh about it and become buddies.

Rugby is a gentleman's game. I've played in over a 100 matches and never heard of someone getting arrested for assault. The guy is, in typical ASSU fashion, an embarrassment to the game.

Played rugby up in Flagstaff. Never had anything like that happen. Generally its hard hitting but clean enough so you can have a beer or two with them after the game.
