Spaceman Spiff wrote:One more for story time about facing off against NBA players. One time I got switched onto checking Marcus Banks 1 on 1 on the perimeter. He shook me about 10 feet in the wrong direction but he ran into someone else and I recovered enough to blindly flail at the ball as he went up for a layup. I got all arm/hand and no one called the foul, so technically I blocked the shot.

That is another play for my personal mixtape against NBA players. I spent the rest of the game scared to death that I'd get switched onto him again and he would literally break my ankles.
Who are some of the other NBA guys you played against? Share as many stories as you like, please.
One that sticks out the most for me was Kirk Snyder. That's the most helpless I've ever felt on the court. He was taller, stronger, faster, had longer arms and could jump higher. Defending him, there just wasn't anything I could do. If I played perfect D and guessed right, I couldn't contest his release point and he'd just drill one in my face.

The only real thing I could do offensively, other than try to float free, was post up, weirdly enough. The only sort of shot I could get off was a jump hook where I wedged my whole body between him and the ball. If I tried to face up one on one, he just swatted everything I tried.

I also knew him on a personal level, which made the end to his NBA career really sad for me. He had a legit career that got derailed by mental health issues and crimes. He was a nice guy but really, really sheltered and awkward. I always felt bad that I thought the issues that killed his NBA career were because he couldn't handle the onrush of money and attention when he got picked in the lottery. He wouldn't have been a great NBA player, but he was a rotation guy for some decent teams and could have had a Trevor Ariza type career if things went right.

TJ scores 15, dishes out 13 assists, pulls down 7 rebounds and had 3 steals, but of course his hater is not happy.

Thanks. Better that than falling out of rotation. But now his hater will say he's soft.

TJ grew up where I grew up. We quickly learned not to take crap from anyone. But I don't remember seeing him do that while at U of A.

Doesn't shock me. TJ plays with an edge, and he always has. I loved him as a Wildcat, but I'm pretty sure I would have hated him as a Sun Devil. He plays with a **** you attitude, which I mean in the best possible way.

that video is funny, especially the Demar part

Vince and Demar are both from Compton (or that general area) so maybe he knows something lol

I've heard that about Derozan in a few places. I don't think it's a huge secret, and the NBA isn't necessarily puritanical.

The 76ers did not play a great game either, but there was no answer for Joel Embiid. He had 26 points and completely owned the boards with 16. The 76ers also got good minutes from T.J. McConnell off the bench as he added 15 points on 5-8 shooting from the field. He hit some big time shots when the Celtics were trying to claw their way back into this game in the second half.

It’s not worth it. Anyone who argues in favor of TJ just gets told repeatedly that they’ve obviously never watched basketball before.

TJ or Lonzo to begin next season? Serious question. You need a PG and only have these two to choose from.

No. I mean, if you had your choice of only these two PGs to start a team, who do you take?
