Think that's unlikely. Keep in mind we're in this age of tell-the-world-the-second-there's-news via Twitter. A college choice is such a big deal for these kids. It's hard to imagine Miller asking them to not say anything.

Totally. I'm in the same boat. This is how foolishly optimistic I am: I still think we have a shot at BW.

Lol yeah Miller is in a fight for every single guy he's prioritizing at the moment. The transfers don't care at all about signing day and I'm not sure the HS kids do either since they're at the point where just signing scholarship papers makes the most sense for them.

It doesn't help with another ESPN story with a negative connotation. Kids, their parents and advisors see these headlines and hear these stories, and it has to be a concern.

What is the deal with ESPN and its apparent grudge with AZ? Where did this come from? Several weeks ago Yahoo Sports issued their big story naming various players and programs where money was allegedly funneled to the kids from third parties, and within hours, ESPN published its hit-job on Miller, almost as an attempt to deflect attention away from the Yahoo story. The whole thing is so bizarre.

I'm still very suspicious about whether the timing of the Yahoo story and ESPN story was a coincidence or whether it was intentional.

My theory: Book released the Yahoo info and Dawkins made the call to ESPN in retaliation. And ESPN doesn't have a grudge against Arizona, they put themselves in legal jeopardy with the release of that story and have decided to dig their fox hole.

You gotta have a coach here who guys want to play for. Miller has been that guy, but clearly it's changed. If he can't get the recruiting train out of the station again, it's just a matter of time before he and AZ part ways. A program that draws Ayton, Lauri, Johnson, and Gordon can't become a place for walk-ons and grad-transfers. It feels ridiculous even writing that sentence.

But again, it all starts with the coach.

Big difference too with Carter is nobody nationally cares, and nobody nationally cared about RichRod's shenanigans since it fell in line with all the other sexual harassment stories, and nobody really cares about UA football nationally (at least YET, hear us Sumlin ha).

But Miller's scandal is national. Everyone thinks of us as cheaters now, right or wrong. When we lost in the tourney, everyone said see what good cheating gets you, glad the cheaters lost. Plus Miller's emphasis on a big front court and crappy guard play is so stuck in the past, you win now in the tourney with stellar guard play and making a bunch of 3's. NO way around that, and Miller's biggest weakness is recruiting decent guards. Has been from day one, which is ironic because he was a good one himself.

On national sports talk yesterday, there was segment about why does Coach K never get questioned when he gets tons of 1 and dones, but why does a guy like Calipari get all the flack for being a likely cheater (with the follow up comment like cheating at recruiting like Miller at Arizona and maybe Bill Self too.) So it's out there, our reputation is stained by this really bad. That's why we're currently at a crossroads, we're staring at winning maybe 15 games in the coming seasons if things don't change around here for the positive, in a short amount of time.

How ironic would it be if this rag-tag ‘18 team got to the FF after years of 5-stars and one-and-dones?

Same. Anything more than a like 11 seed in the tournament and a 3rd place conference finish would be one of the biggest underdog success stories in sports history.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

i'll just go with fuck asu.

Is this real life?

I know we have only six scholarship players, but we'll be starting at least 2 ex-five star player, 3 ex-four stars and one ex-McDonalds all american. I mean, we might not make the tournament, but it isn't like we don't have highly regarded players.

Acting like it would be some miracle...68 teams make it. It isn't some exclusive club.
