Yep, hence why the AD's focus is on helping the kid at the moment more than anything.

DUI is always a bad decision and if Ira did it, he should get consequences for it.

His grandmother's situation is a tragic one and I can't imagine the depth of pain for him. I don't think it is making an excuse for Arizona to stand by Ira, not to prevent consequences for a bad decision, but because that bad decision doesn't throw it all away.

There's a path forward for him in coping with loss, addressing his legal responsibilities and hopefully emerging a stronger man who is better equipped to deal with loss. A lot of loss comes your way in life, and knowing how to deal is a big thing.

Having a lot of sympathy for him and holding him accountable are not mutually exclusive.

What spiff said.

The legal is going to take care of itself, but Arizona and Arizona fans need to back his recovery and healing from this. To throw him aside would be the worst thing for him at this moment.

Take care ira.

He'll still get whistled for four fouls.

$1,492 fine, attend alcohol/drug and traffic classes, use an interlock device for 12 months while driving and serve 12 months of unsupervised probation.

Going to cost him between $5 and $8K all said and done when you add up the interlock device/insurance

I would bet Machina that Lee will never do this again.

Isn't that the whole point? Even 24 hours in jail is going to be tough.

Yeah let's just let murderers do one night as well and one game if they are really sorry. Fuck that. One game is weak as shit and if he wasnt a basketball player he would have to do at least the 5 nights

I just believe a normal joe schmo would do all 5 days for a super extreme DUI. No worries though. I am fine with it but I dont think it is all that hard for what he did like Merkin was implying.

My issue is the one game

Maybe Machina is right.

After all, he was once temporarily banned and he came back and is posting even worse shit. He should have been banned 5 times as long... then I'm sure he'd be a much better poster...

As I said I don't have an issue with the one day vs five in jail. I do believe though he is getting special treatment. Someone I play softball against had a DUI where they fell asleep in a parking lot and had .175 and spent a week in jail at night. They were released for work on the weekday days. They didnt make it to the road thank God. But that isnt my issue.

My issues are that
1- One game was not nearly enough of a suspension for basketball
2- I do not agree with Merkin that one night in jail is really tough for the crime committed and just because he is sorry and in Merkin's opinion wont do it again doesn't mean that the punishment is heavy

That’s issue #1.

Issue #2 is that his words come from a place of hypocritical sanctimony.

Issue #3 is that those words are coming from someone who is a verifiable liar and that no one respects, likes, or wants to hear from.

Hey Judgy.... what’s the proper punishment for someone who peddled a complete fucking lie about Sean Miller blaming the fans for a loss?
