I'd forgotten about Simon's academic troubles. Still, though, I think we can agree that the '97 team over-achieved. The '98 team was the one many had pegged to reach the FF and maybe win it all. 17-1 in Pac, 30-5 overall, #1 seed in the West. And that team got run out of the building by Rick Majerus and the Utes. I remember watching it in the MGM Grand sportsbook. Brutal.
Plenty of other schools have gotten hot in March and crashed the FF, but not too many have actually won it all. But you could also see that '97 team and outcome as the culmination of something Lute had spent over a decade building in Tucson.

It's truly amazing the things had went wrong that year that ultimately ended up going right for us. Stephen Jackson, a top notch recruit, didn't qualify, which led to more PT and development for Dickerson and Terry and add Simon's suspension, which led to further time and development for Terry, and then Simon's return and the time it took for the team to get ended up being the perfect time for the team to roll into the postseason. Truly a ridiculous combination of bad things that worked out in our favor in the end.

Dickerson might be the most underrated Wildcat ever. He didn't play well in the Final Four, so he isn't as well remembered, but he was a heck of a player. He was on his way to being an exceptional NBA player too.

Oh Dickerson was a fantastic player. I remember thinking throughout the '97 and '98 seasons that he was our best pro prospect. Athletic, good shooter, good defender. He even averaged 18ppg one season in the NBA. Injuries got him.

I agree that Dickerson was our best player during his last 2 years. His athleticism was off the charts. Great defender too. His name should be in the rafters.

Huge get.
Call me crazy, but I think he's exactly the kind of player that will struggle in his one-and-done season. He's purely a potential play, don't think he's ready to be a big time star in college right now.

I'm not really sure how he fits with Stewart either. It's a lot of size, but who gets them the ball?

He’s a “problem,” as they say these days. Long arms, athletic, and can create space off the dribble. He can play on the wing or in the low post. He’ll be a tough player defend.

Wow. They're losing key players but gaining some gems.
I'm inclined to believe UW has become the favorite to win the conference in landing 2 top seven recruits. Hopefully their coach understands how to get the most out of what he has and I believe he does.
What is the back story with TA? Is he just worried about pt and being recruited over? Is he going to be high maintenance? He is looking like a transfer risk from my perspective

Little bit of PT and a little bit of other schools getting in his head over the FBI stuff. He'll start as a sophomore.

I actually think his PT situation is pretty solid..if we get Brown, seems like we may only have two true wings on the roster, one of which has a shoulder injury as of now. He will get minutes this year, we wouldn’t have any other options at the backup 3 spot and if Green gets injured, he would immediately be playing big minutes.

Didn't people just misread his tweets? lol
was there anything even there?
it was like Bledsoe saying he didn't wanna be here and everybody made it a big deal leading to him being traded.

He was wavering in his commitment, but Miller ended that shit quick. The tweet stuff about him going to Michigan was people being morons quite frankly.
Love me some Terry Armstrong. He's got versatility that reminds me of Alkins but with added length and athleticism. Hoping he has health and a great sophomore leap in his future at Arizona.

Quade Green, former 5* and Kentucky transfer. Washington should be tough this year.

I still think it's our conference to lose. They have no backcourt besides Green with Nowell leaving. I have UW #3 behind us and Oregon.
Well that sucks. I guess it also means we will see Dylan Smith with us next year which could be a good thing given his defensive prowess. Still would have loved to see how DD improved. Thx kid for coming to us when many would not. Cat nation will be watching a rooting for you I know

Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?
Didn’t Dickerson spend the entire game against UK chasing Ron Mercer?
I know he wasn’t scoring a lot at that point but it seemed like that slowed him down in that game.
We’ve been critical of Miller for keeping and playing guys who aren’t studs. He’s being aggressive in reshaping the roster right now. I’m going to trust him.
Miller likes Baker more than DD. Again, I’m going to trust him.
The problems with DD are described by Choo as something like off court irreconcilable differences. If he’s not a fit for the team, then he’s got to go.
Baker seems like the most professional and stand-up young man we could hope for, and the locker room should benefit tremendously from his presence. Swapping him for DD also reduces chemistry issues from our logjam at the wing.

All good stuff and I trust in Miller with these decisions just sucks when you see someone with on court potential leave the program before they realize most of it.

I checked and all my presumptions are right where I left them. I also checked your rebuttal and noticed you didn’t actually refute what I said.

I don't think rhetorical questions need to be "refuted" - I consider them as statements disguised as questions....

Like Chicat, I'm lost on what you're saying, pc. How is this about exploiting student-athletes? I think they should be allowed to be paid above board, but that's a different issue than Doutrive leaving the program.
