Still nothing official from BW, so I'm counting on him being part of our 2019-20 roster.

I hope so too. Plus there's always a chance that DD takes a big step forward this year. He showed flashes last season. Plus Hazzard has some talent too.

For example: Nico, Green, Nnaji, Ira, Chase? Or is that too big/slow? I think Hazzard could be productive for us as well.

Now that Im thinking about it, if we went with those 5 whoever is playing the 3 would have trouble defending in the man defense.
Green should be fine on any wing on D. Asking Nnaji or Lee to cover a wing on D is the part of that lineup I don't like.
Yeah I half jokingly asked that same question a few days ago: "Can any of the bigs (Nnaji, Lee, or Gettings) play SF?"

Green can play the two with ease - that's his preferred spot next to Nico. Zeke and Stone maybe have the skill to play on the perimeter as a SF on offense, though I doubt Nnaji has the ball handling we'd want there. Lee I think could maybe defend on the perimeter but he's also liable to pick up blocking fouls out there and his suspect shooting touch is tough to project to SF play.

Of all of the bigs, I think only Gettings has viable potential to play SF. He's got the passing ability, outside shooting, and enough ball handling to be a threat from the perimeter (I've seen some highlights of him blowing by defenders on pump fakes from the corner). Likely just a situational use (injury / foul / certain match-ups). Mark Tollefsen played a similar role on the 2016 team at similar size (albeit with more bounce and less strength).
I just don't see how we would not have Hazzard, Smith and Doutrive chewing up all the minutes before we got there. I mean, I have said things about Smith and think Doutrive needs a jump, but I'd still trust them more than an out of position Gettings.

I am still hoping against hope BWill will play and this will all be for naught.

I think a Sophomore Doutrive and a freshman Green is a pretty good set of wings. The thing that we need to remember is that these guys are often going to be set up by Mannion and his elite playmaking skills. Even someone like Ira Lee is going to look totally different b/c of that IMO. Get him rolling down hill after setting a ball screen for Nico and he’s dangerous.

Zeke Nnaji bumped up to a 5-star and #22 overall in the Rivals 2019 class...apparently looked good in the USA U19 team practices and in Zona workouts. Can't wait to see him in action this year.

14 months ago, Zeke Nnaji was the 250th ranked player in the class. Now he's a top 25 five-star.

Keep climbing, young Zeke.

The fact we're adding a back up option at PG isn't likely a coincidence.
At this point, doubt there's any other guard out there that's worth pursuing if Williams can't play.

I would guess just take Puff and roll with Mannion/Hazzard, hoping Williams is healthy.

Jalen Harris was a second team All region guard in high school according to his bio on the team website.

Terrence Johnson (walk-on wide receiver, one of my sons Cienega football teammates) initially went to South Moutain Community College as a guard. Averaged 17.6 points a game in 2017:

His dad played pro hoops in Europe.

I would think we would still be in pretty strong position. His brother will still (most likely) be on the Suns. If he preps in Phoenix and the family moves to Phoenix, I would think his family would be pretty happy with him 90 minutes away.

I doubt Sumlin would let any of his players play a different sport.

Last coach to do it was Tomey.

Stoops was asked, but said no. Not sure if RichRod was ever asked.

You already know the deal with Bwill, whether I tell you straight out or not. I believe Turner will be a part of the bball team, but i would never expect him to play outside of blowouts in Pac 12 play nor should you want him to play more than that.

Choo you think the Puff decision to stay in 2020 is bad for us? You think we add anyone else this offseason now? Or maybe try to give Bwill a medical redshirt year to see if his knee can get any better?

From the standpoint of us ultimately landing him or for this year's team? Guy will very likely be playing his last year in Phx, I wouldn't be concerned either way. It would've been nice to have him on this year's roster though. I don't think that option is even remotely in the cards for Bwill. I have no idea if we try to add anybody else, but I'm sure we'll be open to options.

He does look healthy and sprightly, just being out and about. Clearly he'll be just fine, even if he can't play competitive basketball.

Maybe they are just delaying his medical retirement so he can travel and eat with the team, until they actually need his athletic scholarship for a good player.

Maybe, but that doesn't change the fact that B-Will is currently on our roster and has given zero indication that he won't be playing.

At this point, I don't know what the best case is for Arizona. I'm still one of the thickheaded idiots that thinks BWill might still play basketball. So I kind of hope that's the case and maybe we pick Puff up in 2020.

I know waiting until 2020 probably allows UNC a better chance at landing him then if he could come play for us right away. I'm just still so goddamn hopeful on BWill. Smh.

I don't see a world where 1. Baker has a case and 2. The NCAA would do Arizona any favors at the moment.
