Robbins thinks outside the box by hiring the less qualified white guy. Or in Sumlin's case, the less qualified non-white guy.

The important point is that we're not focusing on things like results, winning and a proven track record.

The only reason to hire Pitino is to see Dick Vitale's head explode

My thoughts of Sumlin were never that positive at the time. My impression was formed when Texas A&M led UCLA by 34 points in the second half and lost to Jim Mora. I never could get excited about him being or coach after that.

I always thought this of Sumlin. He got fired at aTm for underperforming with very good talent. I thought he wouldn't be able to recruit that same kind of talent, and would likely continue underperforming, just with less talent.

I might have been too positive in hindsight.

Maybe they're fooling everyone with the Lloyd and Muss rumors and are going to surprise with Chris Holt or someone like that. Ohio State is a football school. You know you want to be at Arizona?

Someone wake me up when we get to the "Vetting Trent Johnson" portion of the search.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

If I told you 5 years ago, today or basketball team would be interviewing a mid major assistant, Matt Brase, Damon Stoudamire and Josh Pastner for our opening would have given up on UA basketball at that point?

It's funny how many people would have thought Gronk4Heisman was a joke back when he was in college, and now if you said Gronk won the heisman they'd probably nod and say, "yeah, that makes sense, I don't remember that happening, but I can see it."
