My best rants about Arizona basketball are directed toward the bathroom door while I'm on the toilet, I guess I could be considered a "water closet" wildcats fan.Longhorned wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 1:09 pmI think I mean to say something different than that. I'm referring to a certain level of point guard won't transfer here to develop in practice while TyTy runs the floor during games. In that sense, you really can't have both, and I'd rather develop what I call a real college point guard than give the keys to an NBA-bound one-and-done point guard (Suggs aside) who jets after a season of getting outplayed by real college point guards. While I'm an ignorant fan wasting words on a message board while CTL has things under control, this is the hill I'll die on as an ignorant message board poster. It's all I talk about. And I say that with an eye toward today's game, not the past.gronk4heisman wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 12:34 pm If we miss out on Tyty and decide to go with a project like Pelle or a career college role player like Aaron Cook to run the point then my projections for the season go way down and we are looking more like a bubble team.

Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Crickets....
We have four available scholarships, I would think there would be some chatter out there about guys we are at least pursuing. All I have seen is Tyty and hearsay about Kaluma and Aaron Cook. I am not this patient, you are killing me Tommy!
Choo give us an update, are there additional bodies we are in on? Maybe some overseas guys?

Re: let's talk '21
I've heard good things on the Kaluma front. His family is also very private so they don't talk with recruiting sites often and don't like to give information, but I've heard getting Benson means we have a really good chance at getting Kaluma. Us and San Diego State will probably be the front runners because his brother goes there (Adam Seiko). As for Washington, I fully expect him to announce his decision on the 9th, he's playing in the only invitational this year and it's on that date and will be televised. I expect this because today is the last day of April and it's obvious he deserves some lead up to his decision as he's an elite recruit. Few people I know have told me that there is a European prospect involved, couldn't tell you who or what position, I'd have to assume guard as we have little depth there. As for the fourth spot, no clue. I'm guessing he takes a project type guy that he thinks fits for that 4th spot. Question is, if we get Kaluma, does Koloko or Brown leave?
Edit:
The Iverson Classic is the 7th-8th. Not the 9th. I'd take a guess and bet we hear something the 8th

Kentucky could get seriously involved again for tyty?
Adam Miller also deciding Saturday, likely to be Kentucky.
Lloyd should go after Hickman also.

I think the bigger thing is we could get seriously involved with Hickman. We were in his finalists before and he has a connection to JET. I think this could be really good for us, but may be getting ahead of myself.RondaeShimmy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 12:28 pm Kentucky could get seriously involved again for tyty?

It would be a one or the other I would think. Although I think we have a spot for both of them to start with Ben at the 3 if they did come with our current makeup. It is good to split your eggs up instead of having them all in the Tyty basket.

If Tyty doesn't go to the G-League, he's more likely to decide pretty soon.
If Tyty goes elsewhere, go all out on Hickman. Who'll probably take a while longer to decide.
Kansas is in the same spot as Arizona I would think.

It's a double edged sword. Maybe we could go after Hickman, but maybe Hickman leaving KY gives Tyty the role he wants at Kentucky.RondaeShimmy wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 12:28 pm Kentucky could get seriously involved again for tyty?

I thought Adam Miller was supposed to be Sean Miller as primary recruiter and as such, we didn't have much chance after the coaching change.
If Miller goes Kentucky, it probably leaves us, Kansas and the G League for Tyty. Hickman and Tyty are so similar, I have trouble seeing both with Kerr in the mix.

Kentucky was going hard after Minnesota PG transfer Marcus Carr and others with Hickman committed.
Hickman and Tyty know each other, and Hickman was recruiting Tyty to join him at Kentucky.

Just thought at first it opened the door for Tyty to come to Kentucky. You're probably right though. Probably got one of the big name transfers to give them a silent commit and that got Hickman to leaveChooChooCat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 12:58 pmKentucky is after like 37284638 transfer PGs, that’s what spawned this. Re: let's talk '21
I believe Wade signed an extension which gave the University the ability to fire him without cause if they receive an NOA, which somehow I do not think they have received one yet. LSU must have some good lobbyists in the NCAA office who decided to take some time off working to get them to turn the other cheek on football rule "bending" to get them to do the same for basketball.
Whenever a good basketball player chooses LSU not from Louisiana I instantly assume the price was right.

LSU is exhibit 1 for how there doesn't need to be drama around a coach after the FBI scandal. Wade got directly implicated on a national scale. He made the tourney this year, he's still recruiting well, his job is safe and the fanbase likes him.
Unless you have BobRob mishandling stuff, it's simple to go dark and keep on rolling.
BTW, LSU got Tari Eason and if they get Adam Miller too...that is a bumper crop of talent from the portal. Miller and Eason are scary on D, plus two other solid transfers from Mizzou and SJSU.

Can I drop a standard anti-NCAA hypocrisy rant?
When SCCats refers to cheating allegations, he means we might have allowed a young, black man to get paid for being really talented. That's the public perception.
If we'd simply allowed the money generated by the talents of that young, black man go to an old white administrator like Mark Emmert or Bobby Robbins, we wouldn't be cheating, we'd be virtuous under NCAA rules.
Because that's the NCAA way. It's about the student-athaletes...until it's time for profits.
