Re: let's talk '21
Am I just batshit crazy or does everyone consider Kerr a 2 and no shot starting at PG? I can understand playing him off the ball pending who we land and if they are a PG, but Kerrs rep IS as a PG.
I've already been down this road on the other site, but it's as if people flat out think we need a starting PG, regardless of if Lloyd's system is friendly to 2 PGs on the floor together, unlike Millers.
I would be very happy with another shot creator and backup PG, just as I would another legit PG. I've just seen so many people refer to Kerr as a combo or a guy who is going to play off the ball, when I think he can clearly operate on ball but not as your primary perimeter scorer.

Always thought Kerr was a one guard. That's his natural position. Not sure he's ready to start yet though. Had a lot of trouble at anything inside the three point line

Kriisa averages 0.5 2 point shots per game and 4.8 3 PT shots per game. That's not a PG, that's a 2G. Also only 2.4 APG in 22 MPG, although his 1.3 TO PG is good.

I mean you are aware how ball dominant James Akinjo was in this offense right? Also we’ve had numerous PGs who shot more 3s than 2s. That is completely normal.

From my man Gershon:
https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/29056212
Givony on Kerr.Skilled point guard with good size and average length. Plenty of room to fill into his frame. Very good three-point shooter off bounce who can hit tough/contested shots. Could improve efficiency off catch and middle game. Can finish with both hands at rim. Outstanding vision/creative passer. Ambidextrous one-hand passer off live dribble. Competitive spirit and motor help overcome physical tools on defense. Projects as high major starter.

Are you talking about Adama Bal? If so he's not ready to contribute this year. Project player. Give him a year or so. People also saying it might be difficult to get him eligible so idk where we stand there. Heard he's ours if so

Kerr did not make a single 2 pt shot all season, you can't have a starting 1 who cant get by his defender on an occasion. He also had the worst PER on the team (I know he came in late which I am sure had a lot to do with it). I agree that his primary position should be PG, but if he is starting there I think we are looking at a bubble team unless we add some real weapons at other positions.

I'm hoping by the end of this week we have Pelle, Bal, and Kaluma. Odds that happen is a mystery. I know Syracuse and Creighton are our biggest competition for Kaluma, for Pelle I've heard it's between Kansas and us, but I haven't seen many Kansas guys or reporters talking about him really

So where is Nolan Hickman going to end up? It just seems crazy that there's this free run to start at a program with the pieces and the history while also being a hero of sorts, and no one of a high ranking wants it.

Not sure we get Adama anymore. There is some eligibility concerns, but if he plays ncaa he's coming here. There's another guy we've talked to a bit and there is mutual interest. Same thing, if he comes to college he's coming here from what I've heard. Haven't gave an official offer yet but I don't doubt one is coming with Tyty's commitment to Kentucky will be very soon. Wouldn't doubt he officially announces tomorrow or Tuesday. Kind of annoyed Scheer put out this guy's name on his board, was hoping it'd be kept under wraps until it's pretty much a done deal, similar to the Tubelis situation last year, but not get leaked out too early this timeIndianaZonaFan wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 9:11 amAdama, or someone else? Hold up a second, let me be clear, I don't know of a single PG in college that is doing that. I do however know how the game works though and it will be known throughout the industry that Arizona is looking for a PG and that would obviously naturally appeal to many guys. Also there are discrete things Arizona can do if they would have a guy in mind if it were to get to that point.UAEebs86 wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 9:15 amIndianaZonaFan wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 9:11 amAdama, or someone else? Arizona could go that route or they may go the Euro route as well. Still very TBD.

Pending on what Lloyd would want to do with the roster of course, but yes I believe he'd be good enough to start. Doesn't mean he will, but he'll definitely be in the mix for a starting spot.

I'm not expecting to have a point guard anytime soon. Lloyd is a patient guy. I expect him to wait a while for some more transfer options to enter, talk to a euro player or two, and really gage all his options. He's not going to just take a point guard to take a point guard. He's really big on fit. He wants the right point guard

To be honest I really like the Euro option, he's a very quality PG that would fit very well IMO. I guess the only negative line of thought is if we take him, literally all the guards on our roster would be European (if you don't count Mathurin of course).BeardownZonaZona wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 9:50 am I'm not expecting to have a point guard anytime soon. I think he'd be a great pickup. Can do a lot of things well and we have good connections there that can help us. Got great chemistry with a player or two on our team already too. Unless a really good point guard enters the portal that fits our system, which is entirely possible, this is the guy I wantChooChooCat wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 9:53 amTo be honest I really like the Euro option, he's a very quality PG that would fit very well IMO. I'd rather have an experienced college PG (if there's one out there) than another freshman Euro that almost surely will take a while or a year to adjust.
Only have Tubelis, Marhurin, Terry for this next year. Kerr has less than half a season of experience.
Larsson and Bal (if he's college eligible) are nice building blocks for the future.

This guy can shoot and you can never have to many guys like that. If you get a pg that can penetrate and then kick this guy will make teams pay. Not sure about his defense. With him, kerr and Ben I don't think a zone will be very effective against us.ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 9:48 amPending on what Lloyd would want to do with the roster of course, but yes I believe he'd be good enough to start. We'll add another PG.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 9:32 amGot it. Thanks, Choo.ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 5:52 amIf he becomes an actual serious target I will share his name.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 3:35 pmIs this mystery Euro PG's name out there somewhere? Or are we all still in the dark?ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 9:53 amTo be honest I really like the Euro option, he's a very quality PG that would fit very well IMO. I guess the only negative line of thought is if we take him, literally all the guards on our roster would be European (if you don't count Mathurin of course).BeardownZonaZona wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 9:50 am I'm not expecting to have a point guard anytime soon. Lloyd is a patient guy. I expect him to wait a while for some more transfer options to enter, talk to a euro player or two, and really gage all his options. He's not going to just take a point guard to take a point guard. He's really big on fit. He wants the right point guard
In the meantime, is it safe to assume that we're going to offer at least one more guard?

So, my thoughts on Pelle (not that I presume the importance of my opinion). I have not watched games, this is a HL vid and stat review only.HiCat wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 3:11 am Pelle Larsson '20-21 Highlights

A very good distance shooter. This is unquestionably his best trait.
The remainder of his offensive game seem fairly average. His assist totals are ok for a 2, but not ok for a 1. His to's are a problem, 29% is very high for a perimeter guy without high usage. He's not a great rebounder for his size by any means.
Defensive metrics are a shade below what Terrell Brown gave us last year in similar minutes. So, it could be worse on D, but he isn't going to raise our level of play.
If he's genuinely a starting 2 guard, he needs to have the aspects of his game beyond shooting begin to grow.
