51) Pelle Larsson, 6-5, 210, G, Fr., Utah – ARIZONA

Stats: 8.2 ppg, 2.8 apg, 46% 3-pointers

“Big, strong guard. Measurables consistent with NBA guards. Shot it extremely well last season from deep. Can play both backcourt spots. Athletic, wants to guard anybody.”
82) Oumar Ballo, 7-0, 260, C, Fr., Gonzaga – ARIZONA

Stats: 2.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg

“Solid big with glimpses of being dominant in the paint. Could be a good rim protector, but needs to increase his motor. Has to put it together and have more opportunities.”
Still a lot of good transfers out there, but they'd want to start

The number of guys listed highly by Goodman and their description is like "Plays basketball, cannot dribble or shoot, has swagger but will he work hard enough to start in the MVC? Ranked 35th out of 101 on my board."

Which showed how damaged the Arizona brand had become. Arizona losing a recruit to Dayton? It was actually an astounding development.

That COULD BE a really dangerous line-up if those guys can take the sophomore leap (and put on some gd weight). Lot of switchable defenders, lot of passing, lot of shooting.
Shoot 'em up with Trier's stuff tbh

I hope we see that small lineup a lot, even if it's not a matchup lineup. Put our best on the floor and make teams adjust to you.
Not even that small of a line-up!

6'3" / 6'5" / 6'7" / 6'7" / 6'11"

That's the size of a modern NBA starting line-up.

That lineup will need to pickup their rebounding as well. Assuming it can with increased minutes.

He's making his decision this week. Between us and Georgia I believe. If Lloyd wants him, he'll get him. I'd say Cook is probably a wildcat by the end of the week

On that list of 101 only 14 are uncommitted. Jordan Brown is one of them. Any chance we can talk him into coming back?

Terry and Mathurin were very good rebounders for their position -

Mathurin: OReb% 5.8 / DReb% 16.3 / Total 11.1%
Terry: OReb% 4.3 / DReb% 13.5 / Total 8.9%

Those aren't Rondae or Stanley numbers, but they are Rawle / Josh Green numbers. I wouldn't expect any rebounding out of Kerr (he should be leaking out for the outlet).

Tubelis also had very good advanced rebounding numbers - OReb% 11.3 / DReb% 19.4 / Total 15.4% - that's in line with our typical "best rebounder" numbers (Nnaji, Jeter, Ristic, Comanche) excluding rebounding freaks like Ayton, Anderson, and Zeus.

Pelle played a lot of lead guard for Utah last season and I'm going to guess that that role impacted his rebounding numbers (1.9% / 12.4% / 7.4%)... those numbers are basically what we got out of Terrell Brown, who came in as a bigtime rebounder at his position, but we should expect better based on Larsson's frame if we play him off ball.

Scheer said the staff were surprised he went into the portal, they had good practices, was estatic about the offense, running him as a big playmaker etc then entered the portal. Caught them off guard.

He might come back but looks like he's going to St Mary's.

Nice YDF. I like the advanced metrics.

But Pelle won't be able to replace our 5 position rebounding numbers - Jordon Brown (9.4/21.3/15.4) & Koloko (15.1/17.1/16.1) - so even if Koloko avergaes 17 minutes a game like last year we will need someone take up the slack with that line-up. I think Mathurin & Terry could do it as I agree they are good rebounders for their positions.

CSM stressed rebounding as we know and his teams usually won the rebounding margin (we outrebounded our opponents an average of 7 per game). I'm interested to see if CTL's teams will be as strong on the boards.

Totally right - we'd for sure give up some rebounding in that line-up by playing four out like that. But of course there'd be some benefits in terms of switching and shooting so hopefully fewer rebounds needed. Also, the defensive rebounds that Koloko would have pulled in probably go to one of our guys still, so it wouldn't be total loss.

Good question and thoughts.

But it would be the kicker to have a 4 that was big enough (6’8” ish) and athletic enough to guard multiple positions. I want an athletic guy with a motor and a want to rebound. That’s why I was high on getting Kaluma. If we could get a poor mans version of that I would be happy.

I like it. Kier gives us more backcourt depth, particularly in case of injury.

So the plan is to backup a unproven PG with a Senior who has never played PG and seems like a Dylan Smith with his metrics.

Not a fan of this one. I get we probably had to but not a fan. I will say, he's experienced and that's nice

He’s a filler who can’t be here more than 1 season. We have plenty of room for him. Hope he can contribute off the bench when needed.

He's only here for a year, being his 6th year, so a body for practice I suppose. Can't see him getting a lot of minutes at the 2.

Anyone know the scholarship count? Really need to get a PG.
