Mathurin was a sure thing. Koloko was 50/50. This one is surprising.

Best of luck, DT. I know we've been mentioned with a couple of wing transfers. One from Washington State, one from Kentucky, and one more I can't remember. Probably waiting in DT's decision. Probably get one now.

Totally agree. It hurts if I focus on myself. If I focus on that young man's spirit I find it remarkably uplifting. For those of us stuck on the left side of the equation irony and sarcasm help. I think he’s getting picked late 1st, which probably translates into a vast majority of time spent in the G League next year. If he spent just one more year at Arizona he’s likely a lotto pick or close to it and more likely to spend the year in Indianapolis or Detroit instead of Ft. Wayne or Who Gives a Shit, USA.OriginalAZ wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 8:40 pm This sucks for him and us. I really think this is a mistake for him. Choo any insight on the decision? Seems like he was going to have to get a promise from someone to stay in the draft so im assuming that happened? He'll likely spend at least one year between the big club and the G League. Most teams work that nowadays to give people a taste while using the G League to further development if he's not fully ready for a rotation spot.
Choo's post might be the most positive thing I've seen about Indy or Detroit in a minute, too.

NIL isn't going to keep any borderline 1st around longer. If you're a borderline 1st, you're getting 3 or 4 years with 2 years guaranteed and an average of 2 million to slightly over 2 million a year. Plus, you can leverage NIL on top of that base salary.Beachcat97 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 8:18 am So far, the NIL isn’t keeping any AZ guys in school longer.

Re: Dalen Terry
Regardless, none of this matters because NBA basketball is awesome and available all over the place. All any of you need to do is stop watching men's college basketball and deliver it from its slow, painful death.
Leave it to the college coaches who get paid to deal with the reality of recruiting amazing NBA-level talent with tiny fingers and 5' 4" wingspans, debilitating rashes, or whatever other congenital conditions that prevent them from leaving a program before they realize their potential. This isn't your problem to deal with.
And no, none of today's college players will get to soak up the amazing college experience of a Sean Elliott, or even a Salim Stoudamire. Then again, there will never again be the glory of sitting in a movie theater and watching Neil Diamond playing a misunderstood singer who just needs his chance to belt out tunes in a tight, shiny shirt that displays a wide triangle of his chest hair.
You're old. Move on. It's not like you won't get to watch amazing basketball played by the best players in the world in a league they actually want to play in.l
And everything you ever loved about college basketball is still a part of the women's game, minus the speed, size, and air time.

Spiff, we can sit here and debate who is or isn't borderline 1st round, but there are plenty of guys who are close enough to this threshold to warrant inclusion on this list. The bottom line is that we've had worse luck than other schools in this area.
I wish DT nothing but success with his decision. He's a good kid and will thrive as a pro.

He shot 5-21, 1-8 from three, had only 2 assists to 4 turnovers and got toasted on D regularly. He was not close to a first rounder by the time he actually decided to return.
No disrespect, but I don't think it's debatable why he returned. He returned because he had probably the worst combine showing of any potential 1st.

Look, maybe Juzang is a poor example because he has nowhere near the pro potential as Terry, but still, the NIL was expected to make staying in college more appealing than in the past, since student-athletes no longer have to wait to leverage their name, image and likeness to secure lucrative endorsements. DT has already gotten endorsement deals (non-alcoholic beer, his own apparel line), and I expected his NIL earning potential at AZ next year to be a factor in his decision. I don't think it was.

When Obannon started this NIL stuff, I thought it was going to be about video game usage and Jersey sales

At no time did I feel that you felt entitled to anything, nor spiff or most others. I get that sense from BC.ChooChooCat wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 1:13 pmCool, we get it. Fuck us. Wanting guys to stay is fine. Thinking they are making a mistake leaving is fine. Feeling they owe it to you or the fans to stay is not fine

Find me the post where I said DT (or any AZ player) "owes" us something.PHXCATS wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 1:55 pmAt no time did I feel that you felt entitled to anything, nor spiff or most others. It's possible to walk (discuss DT's decision) and chew gum (discuss the NIL's impact on the sport) at the same time.

Re: Dalen Terry
"I feel like I'm ready," Terry told reporters after working out for the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. "I'd rather be in the NBA and go through my struggles and trials and tribulations than be in college and be the star.
"A lot of guys wouldn't say that, but I'm young kid and I want to get adjusted to the game. And obviously I've been playing basketball my life to be an NBA player. I didn't play basketball since I was two to be a college player"
