Arizona firmly on fourth 1 seed. Committee members were for the first time 12-0 in deciding the top 4.

If Boswell or Bradley got injured I’d have no issues seeing Martinez get 15 minutes a game. The kid is smooth and unrattled.

They say you win in the Tourney with guard play.
Really happy with how our backcourt is playing right now.

Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
I think we have 3 really hard games left. Oregon, UCLA and WSU. The first is Thursday but I don't think that will be the end of the PAC chase. I think it will be against Oregon because Caleb will not have another game as good as he did in that one. Altman is a good coach and he will find a way to make it competitive. UCLA as always will be a war but when they played in Tucson I think we found a good way to handle them in the second half. Will be a war.

Also very happy we had a recruit at that game and although he is signed he can understand the culture and expectations.

I don't know if they showed it on TV, but he was hanging out in the Zoo when they showed him on the jumbotron, so he had a great experience last night. Great introduction to the "rivalry".

No need to mention this is a key game down the stretch. They beat us in Pullman by 3, and even if we beat them, there are plausible scenarios where they could at least tie us and start in on the tie-breakers for how each team did against 3rd place, 4th place, etc. We'll be in the top four teams to get a bye in Vegas, but aside from winning the last regular-season Pac-12 title, much better to be the 1 seed than the 2.
To review their season, they lost a couple of neutral court games early to Mississippi St and Santa Clara. In league play at home, they've gone 6-1, beating us, sweeping the mountain schools and Bay Area schools, and splitting with the Oregons, losing to the Ducks. On the road in the Pac-12, they're 5-3, beating USC, Stanford, Washington, and the Oregons, while losing to the mountain schools early, and at Cal.

Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
Who would have thought that the UA-WSU game this thursday would be the game of the year in the PAC12????
Win and the Cats have a two game lead and the conference title by the throat. Lose and we drop our NCAA Tourney #1 seed and WSU has the inside track to the conference title and #1 seed in the PAC12 tournament. The Cats need to bring their A game from the opening tip.

No chance we are losing to Wazzu if we don’t lose focus and play like we have been the last several games.

Just keep Bradley out there for defense, Boswell needs to keep driving to the basket, and Larsson needs to keep his confidence high.

I don’t see us losing either, but I could imagine a game flow like we saw vs. ucla. They get out to an early lead, before we take control as the game wears on.EastCoastCat wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 9:38 am No chance we are losing to Wazzu if we don’t lose focus and play like we have been the last several games.

Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
This may belong in cutting the cord more, but I want to put it here for those it may effect. I have Sling. I received the half price promotion a month ago when I decided to follow the Cats more closely. So today the promotion is up. I would have to pay $70 to keep my subscription. I didn't believe it was worth it so I cancelled my sub. I was going to subscribe to YouTube TV, using a different Google e-mail account to receive the $62/month promotion.
It is extremely rare I can watch games live since I work swing shift and live on the east coast. I have to record every game. I was willing, and that is the key statement, to get rid of Sling so I could record the Cats games, especially going into the tourney season. Today is the final day with Sling. I wanted to watch a previous game and they gave me a promotion with Sling Blue and Orange for $35, less than the $47 I paid at half price. I unfortunately can't watch the CBS games fully (thanks to time zones). But that is a really good deal. Sling has got me for another month before I buy YouTube TV for the NCAA tourney.
On a side note. I was able to get Disney+ and Hulu for $4.99/month for 6 months and that expired a few days ago, and I was willing to cancel. When they know I was serious about cancelling they offered me another $4.99/month for 6 months. Same with Audible. I listen to audiobooks in the car when I commute. When they realized I was going to get rid of the service they offered great specials for 6 and 12 months for Audible. I realized that if you are serious about getting rid of a service, you can get deals, and that is the way the game is played now.

Disagree. Tommy lost 4 starters (including actual '23 POY Tubelis) and has actually improved on last season, bringing in a largely new roster and having them on the brink of a Pac title and a #1 seed.AZCatGirl wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 9:35 pmI think Kyle Smith has it locked up regardless. If Smith can win in Tucson this week, he can change my mind. Otherwise, this award should be Tommy's.

What would we need to do to get into the "Trapezoid Of Excellence"? Slow down our pace?
Re: 2023-2024 Arizona Basketball
Yes, that's the only way. I think we are close enough to it though. And Virginia has shown that it's more dangerous to be on the slow end than the fast end. Fast teams are often not tough teams, and I think this team has shown it can be tough, which is usually what gets the too fast teams.

They only made it a trapezoid so they could include Houston.
Also, when you play 6 games in the tourney, your NET ranking is going to not be +30 unless you get a bunch of upset winners to play against, and if you are playing a bunch of teams that you are +30 in NET over, you should be winning those games.

He made it a trapezoid because UVA is a recent title winner who won playing super slowly. We're grouped with Alabama and Kentucky but we're way more like the trapezoid teams because we have pace versatility. We're also not dependent on the three and we defend.U.P.
