Anyway, how many California state championships did SJ win? My guess is he's one of those players who rise to the occasion in one-and-out tourneys.

The dumpster fire that was UA basketball was very lucky to have Bayless auditioning for a year under the pr*ck that was brought back and coached him while he tried to rest control of the program from the legend who should have already retired.CalStateTempe wrote:This whole season as been an audition season for SJ.Longhorned wrote:I hope so, too. He'll be remembered as a Bayless IMO.
Bayless was better to UA BB than UA BB was to him... and it is not even close.

http://tucson.com/sports/blogs/pascoe/u ... 16794.htmlOne guy Miller may not have been too happy with was Stanley Johnson, who played just six minutes in the second half at the same time that Washington State began nailing some open perimeter looks.
Johnson finished with seven points over 17 minutes, his second single-digit scoring game in the past four. He had eight points on 3-for-11 shooting against Oregon State on Jan. 30.

Re: Stanley Johnson
From the chart in the other thread, his ast/to ratio has improved from .08 to 1.1 in conference play. That is a big thing for him. Getting out of control is his biggest issue. When he plays aggressive but in control, he's dominant.PieceOfMeat wrote:where's he at with turnovers?

Not according to the only trusted source in the world, ESPN. According to them, Jahil Okafor is Shaq 2.0 and his poop has nuggets of potpourri in it.97cats wrote:Stanley Johnson might just be the best player in America
Re: Stanley Johnson
Nate Mason from Minnesota with his 52 might also like to be considered.97cats wrote:FAST FACT: did you know Stanley Johnson leads all freshman in the country in steals with 39?
Marcquise Reed from Robert Morris with his 50 steals would also beg to differ.
D'Angelo Russell at Ohio State says "don't forget my 44."

I posted this earlier in this thread: Overall: Has been described by some pundits as having amongst the best set of post skills ever seen on the high school level ... Dominant high school player who will be a dominant college player likely for a year ... Polished low post scorer, but doesn't project as a dominant scorer or rebounder at the pro level ...Bosy Billups wrote: Not according to the only trusted source in the world, ESPN. I compare that to Stanley who I can absolutely imagine being a 1(a) or 1(b) type scorer and superstar, one part of a two superstar player type of team (Durant/Westbrook type) that the NBA looks for. Or you can have a non-dominant center.

Ev'ry Pippin has a Jordan,
Not much else be mo' importan',
One man stops the defense whole,
The next man steals the rock to roll,
Just like Johnny had his Ed,
Or George Washington his Fed,
Ne'er there was a duo mo' manly,
Than that Rondae with his Stanley,
Ev'ry Pippin has a Jordan now!
Thank you! Thank you in the back row! Thank very much! Good night everyone!

Big week for SJ. Been a bit out of synch these past few weeks. We need him to return to being the go-to guy on O if we are going to make noise in March. Hostile road trip for the pac title - perfect opportunity for him to assert himself again.

Re: Stanley Johnson
When Stanley makes mistakes, it is usually because he is too hyped up and excited.
In other words, he gets excited like all human teens.
I have never seen a moment where I thought "Stanley doesn't give a shit". Or "Stanley is dogging it."
His mistakes are generally followed by "calm down, Stanley...you got this." And until this last weekend, where the hometown bit may have had him even further overexcited, he generally answers mistakes with something...a steal, bucket, or pass...that tells you he does, in fact, got this.
Nothing about Stanley Johnson sets off warning bells in my head. I think he truly had a bad weekend. And I am sure his ego gets the better of him at times, being a kid and all and among the best in the world at his craft. But I have never seen or heard anything from those who spend time around him that suggests his moments of bigheadedness are common.

Stanley has been MIA for a few games. Hopefully he changes that to MOP.
Erlich Bachmann: Richard wrote the code, yes, but the inspiration was clear. Let me ask you something. How fast do you think you could jack off every guy in this room? Cause I know how long it would take me. And I could prove it.

Sean Miller may disagree with you. He has been pulled several times for not playing D.
Very common in freshmen of course. Many times the superstar doesn't play defense in HS so he doesn't foul out.

Re: Stanley Johnson
I think there's a difference between dogging it and not putting forth the level of effort expected at Arizona (or other top five programs) too. A lot of freshmen think they're playing hard until they get introduced to someone who demands more.Merkin wrote:EVCat wrote: I have never seen a moment where I thought "Stanley doesn't give a shit". Re: Stanley Johnson
His stats were fine, has just seemed a bit off with the ball in his hands. That can come and go as a scorer course, but we sorely need him breaking down defenses with efficiency as we go up against stronger competition. With TJ and SJ doing it together that's gonna be hard to stop.
Re: Stanley Johnson
Stanley's so talented his "freshman wall" is a couple of below-Stanley's-standards games. The only real stinker in the whole bunch was the UCLA game, and the game (Washington State?) were Miller parked his behind on the bench.

Re: Stanley Johnson
I'm not even sure that was a full on stinker against UCLA. The bar is just high, but ordinarily, getting double figure rebounds and getting to the line 7 times usually offsets at least enough to avoid being labeled a stinker. He contributed on D and was excellent on the glass, but just shot really poorly.rgdeuce wrote:Stanley's so talented his "freshman wall" is a couple of below-Stanley's-standards games. Nah you're right there. The poor night from the field was just magnified because every other starter minus TJ the last few minutes was bad too.Spaceman Spiff wrote:I'm not even sure that was a full on stinker against UCLA.
