12 over 5

Post by azgreg »

Who's your 12 over 5? I'm thinking Stephen F Austin. Utah has played poorly of late especially away from the Huntsman Center.

W Virginia
Buffalo

N Iowa
Wyoming

Arkansas
Wofford

Utah
Stephen F Austin

Buffalo and Wyoming has a chance but I really like Northern Iowa. I think Wofford could beat the bipolar razorbacks. Going to be fun

I actually don't see any 12 winning this year. I feel like it's a fairly weak crop. Although if I was forced to pick one it would probably be Buffalo.

BTW, it's Northern Iowa, not Northern Illinois. The state of Illinois didn't get one team into the dance this year. Meanwhile Iowa got 3 and Indiana got 5 (and they're all in the same region for some reason).
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Weak 12 group, Utah just destroys mid-major competition and WVU is a mentally tough group. Buffalo probably has the best team to do it though.

Washington and Washington State play average mid-major basketball and I am hearing a lot of good things about SFA.

Picked only one and it was Buffalo.

Damn

Edit: forgot about Wofford. So two, both swings and misses.

Same here, Buffalo was my only pick, but they got Buffaloed. Knew Utah would get past SFA, Utah is too efficient otherwise. Thought Arkansas was too athletic for Wofford, but Wofford was missed FTs away from winning that one. Surprised Wyoming was able to work that lead down to 7 that quickly, but once Northern Iowa started being more deliberate instead of jacking up quick shots that weren't true to their style, game was over. UNI is good.
But in my book, you gotta get to White Castle before the weirdos show up!

All the potential upset winners in the 12 spot were left out of the draw this year....

This is only the 4th time in the 32 years of the modern tournament there were no 12/5 upsets. Last time was in 2007.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

i'll just go with fuck asu.
