by any chance does schmitz do any scouting/tip giving for us?
If we ask he'd easily answer for us.SunnyAZ wrote:by any chance does schmitz do any scouting/tip giving for us?
Good to know. Cause every player I twitter search he has posted about like 2/3 years ago. Would be good to have someone who is good at their job on our side, especially when that job is knowing about every single relevant teenage basketball player around the world.ChooChooCat wrote:If we ask he'd easily answer for us.SunnyAZ wrote:by any chance does schmitz do any scouting/tip giving for us?
Well well...Chicat wrote:Good Morning
Wow...interesting. From the highlights I've seen, would have preferred the other euro target. But this guy certainly seems like a solid get. We now have, according to Givony, the top euro guard and big committed to playing college in the class of 2020.Chicat wrote:Good Morning
Bummer!ChooChooCat wrote:Btw this is not the Euro who was our top target. Looks like he's going to sign with his pro team.

It's the smart route to go...much easier to recruit those kids that aren't subject to all of the ESPN bullshit 24/7, and I think we also have a solid reputation with international players.ChooChooCat wrote:FWIW I'd expect the international route to be a prominent route taken by Arizona from here set forth.
Wanna make 100% sure he's off the table before I post his name.luteformayor2 wrote:Who was the original euro who didn't commit?
Is Alex Barcello Mormon? I really don't know. But good luck getting a cup of coffee in Provo, besides a cold beer.Beachcat97 wrote:Unless he’s Mormon, I really can’t see how Haarms would choose BYU over all those other suitors.
Barcello didn’t have an offer from Kentucky.Merkin wrote:Is Alex Barcello Mormon? I really don't know. But good luck getting a cup of coffee in Provo, besides a cold beer.Beachcat97 wrote:Unless he’s Mormon, I really can’t see how Haarms would choose BYU over all those other suitors.
Not as a transfer, but AB had a killer list out of high school.Beachcat97 wrote:Barcello didn’t have an offer from Kentucky.Merkin wrote:Is Alex Barcello Mormon? I really don't know. Not a Mormon, but either from a Catholic or other Christian High School I thought.Merkin wrote:Is Alex Barcello Mormon? I really don't know. Hopefully we are not planning on taking more than two top 20 guys in 2021 (That sounds so weird to say). I am in the camp that wants to see some roster continuity, bringing in to many top guys not only leads to a short term rental of that player but leads to others transferring who do not want to lose their spots to a OAD Freshman. I have heard we are in on (to varying degrees) at least 7 top 20 level guys currently (Banchero, Hardy, Foster, Diabate, Bittle, Kendall Brown, Watson). I would love to get one or two of those guys but worry that more will do more harm than good.azgreg wrote:
You're right. Wow. Barcello may've become a big-minutes, big-production player for us had he stayed. But BYU was ready to give him minutes immediately. He made the right choice.Merkin wrote:Not as a transfer, but AB had a killer list out of high school.Beachcat97 wrote:Barcello didn’t have an offer from Kentucky.Merkin wrote:Is Alex Barcello Mormon? No. He went to my HS. Corona del Sol in Tempe. Played with Bagley there for a while as well.MountainCat wrote:Not a Mormon, but either from a Catholic or other Christian High School I thought.Merkin wrote:Is Alex Barcello Mormon? Your error in this assertion is that BYU is never the right choice. For anything.Beachcat97 wrote:You're right. Wow. Barcello may've become a big-minutes, big-production player for us had he stayed. Let's pray! Been refreshing Twitter all day. We could use a scorer/shooter like himChooChooCat wrote:Kerwin Walton is supposed to announce his commitment today, maybe? I dunno.

Sums up all college basketball recruiting. You could say it's because we're all locked up without sports, but even then you have to realize that only people on message boards like this have any awareness of this recruitment.Beachcat97 wrote:I could be wrong, but man does there seem to be an inverse relation between this kid’s likely impact and the amount of attention being given to his choice of school.

I was thinking the same thing. Good shooter, but that's it. Not like he is a one and done.
Twitter pretty much unanimously is picking NC. Minnie may be making a late push.
Very Catholic. Went to St Mary Basha elementary K-8. Went to CDS for high school because Seton Catholic Prep in the Barcello's opinion, mucked up their coaching hire. His 3 sisters all starred/are stars at SCP.MountainCat wrote:Not a Mormon, but either from a Catholic or other Christian High School I thought.Merkin wrote:Is Alex Barcello Mormon? I'm convinced he and his parents are in a death match over this decision.Beachcat97 wrote:Is he seriously letting it get late in the day AGAIN?
That or he's just about to show up at a university in the fall ready to play. UnannouncedChooChooCat wrote:I'm convinced he and his parents are in a death match over this decision.Beachcat97 wrote:Is he seriously letting it get late in the day AGAIN?
