Respectable media outlets are the last to publish anything...they are dancing around the subject currently, only really "reporting" on Trier's tweets.EVCat wrote:I know info is held tight and internet reports aren't quite the same as newspaper/beat writer reports, but...

I never count on the Star to provide breaking stories, but at this point, if everything is where it seems to be, there should be enough for them to report a little bit, right?
The AD has been incredibly tight-lipped about this. And no serious media outlet is going to run with rumor alone. You have to have at least one person close to the situation give you a definitive statement, even anonymously, to report something as actually happening.EVCat wrote:I know info is held tight and internet reports aren't quite the same as newspaper/beat writer reports, but...

Like has been mentioned, we'll probably know Trier is back when he's in uniform and warming up before a game. No press conference, no official statement, and no serious media outlet breaking the news days in advance.
I'm just surprised that, if we are at the end of this, and he is coming back, the Star reporters cannot come up with that one source.Chicat wrote:The AD has been incredibly tight-lipped about this. I can understand sources keeping tight-lipped when this was still being dealt with. But if...IF...this is done, it seems a source would be a lot easier to come by to confirm what the internet sources are saying. Like you would almost want to confirm it so the story is out there that everything is fine now.
Don't underestimate their tight-lippedness. UofA lost a million-dollar suit for failing to stay mum (Miles Simon). Has there been a definitive media report on Elliott Pitts? Done deal. Long Gone. Details still not confirmed by the UofA (not that I've seen anyway).EVCat wrote:I'm just surprised that, if we are at the end of this, and he is coming back, the Star reporters cannot come up with that one source.Chicat wrote:The AD has been incredibly tight-lipped about this. Don't be surprised if he comes back, and we never know (beyond rumors).
Also, I think it would take more than one anonymous source unless the source was either Trier, Miller, an assistant or Byrne. Doubt PGU has a firsthand source. Doesn't mean they're wrong. They just don't have any standards to answer to. If they're wrong, they'll just fling the next thing against the wall to see if it sticks. And plenty of folks will be watching.
Just watch Twitter before the game if you must know before tipoff. If he's suited up, good news. Sucks for gamblers, I realize. But they're used to life sucking.

Sure it wasn't August Busch IV?Jefe wrote:Friday night after the game some guy at a bar told me Zo totaled his car and fled the scene. I was 10+ beers deep at that point but Im pretty sure that was the gist of itAdd it to the list?
Busch testosterone is legendary. Perhaps a remarkable family custom has something to do with it: On the day a Busch baby is born, the little tyke swallows a few drops of Budweiser. Yet despite such early and frequent attempts by August III to mold his son to the business, the Fourth wasn't able to buckle down. A prime example: the auto accident he had during his second year at the University of Arizona. According to police, August IV left a local bar early one morning and was rounding a sharp curve in his new, black Corvette when he careened off the road. His passenger, a waitress from another bar, flew through the sunroof and died. August IV left the scene. Police found him, still bloody, hours later at his townhouse in Tucson. For eight months the Busches wrangled with police and prosecutors. Evidence--samples of blood and urine taken from August IV the day of the accident--was lost or damaged. Authorities finally decided not to charge him with manslaughter.
"They couldn't prove blame," says the Fourth today. The tragedy haunts him, but he insists he has no idea what happened that day in 1983. "I had a bad head injury. I don't remember that part of my life

River Road and Elliott's brand new Porsche. My dad had a Porsche and drove like a madman on River with me in it until that happened. Sean Elliott was taking Anthony Cook out for a spin in his new Porsche on River Road. Driving way too fast and showing off on the dip- and turn-heavy portion near Swan and lost control and crashed. Im uncertain if alcohol was ever confirmed as a factor, that was the rumor at the time though.
