Smith, be gone

Doutrive, damn.

I guess it makes sense if Miller thinks Baker is better and Baker can be a future Combo guard & 3&D player. Armstrong can also the play the 2, so a little less need and probably has a higher upside.

Doutrive and Baker are sort of opposites as players. Baker can shoot and defend, but doesn't do a ton else. Doutrive's D and shooting are big question marks, but he brings a lot of other things.

Playing time isn't it? He wouldn't have returned if Randolph returned. Baker & Armstrong can play the 2.

This whole "pushing players out" business isn't fun for me. Do we do this often? Who was most recently pushed out by Miller?

Probably Kobi.

Remember Miller took who he could get this past recruiting class. Things don't always work out between both parties when they're kind of forced together in the first place, when they normally wouldn't be.

I go back and forth. If a player isn't in Miller's future plans, is it better to keep him, recruit over him and bury him or to push him out?

Are you saying Kobi wanted to/would have stay(ed) ? I was under the impression he did not want to even be at school.. just no better options.

Yeah to be fair Kobi is a stretch. If he wanted to have stayed I don't think he would've been welcomed back though that's for sure.

Good point. Omar Thielemans is already gone and Williams is the only commit from the original targeted class.

I don't understand why Doutrive would be the one to be pushed out. We have a walk on with a scholarship and Barcello, who I don't see having any minutes in this next year and would be surprised if he played significant minutes in his Senior year. If we needed to make room, I think there are much more obvious options than a player who we saw a lot of potential from in his Freshmen year.

Desjardins doesn't factor into the scholarship count, he's losing it

1. Jeter
2. Gettings
3. Lee
4. Barcello
5. Williams
6. Hazzard
7. Koloko
8. Mannion
9. Green
10. Nnaji
11. Armstrong
12. Doutrive/Jemarl Baker
13. Smith/Jordan Brown

Barcello doesn't seem to care he'll get little playing time so he's not transferring.

lol that's pretty much it. He may be eligible to play next year regardless (with a waiver for Musselman bailing), but there will be less competition for PT at Nevada than there would be at Arizona next season.

What am I missing with Kansas? How are they a top 5 team? They were not good last year, they are losing almost all of their production and are bringing in the 6th best recruiting class in the Big 12.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Memphis is scary at all. These former NBA guys trying their hand at college coaching have not done well: Patrick Ewing, Avery Johnson, Chris Mullin.

Penny Hardaway at Memphis is actually great for us, he'll draw top level recruits that would otherwise go to UK/Duke/(east coast) but struggle to do anything with them. Good for us.
