WTF is up with Lunardi? We're a 5-seed according to his latest (March 9) release? We've lost one fucking game the last few weeks and that was on the road, in overtime, without Trier and our head coach. What an ass.

Lunardi seriously now has Arizona as a 5-seed playing Texas Tech as the 4-seed and Virgina as the #1 seed overall.

i think that was as of this morning he had us trending down as a 5 seed in the south region.

It will be Duke's loss tonight that will securely move them into the West #1 seed in Lunardi's bracket.

The Devils, Kansas, 'nova and Virginia across the 1 seed line is as open and vulnerable a tournament at the top as I've seen in decades. Stay home and take 'em out, 'Cats.

If Lunardi owned a NBA team and had the No. 1 pick this year, he would pass on Ayton and pick someone from Duke. I would go onto say if he had the first two picks in the draft, Ayton would be the third pick.

He is the definition of an east coast bias. I bet he goes to bed by 10pm each night because he works so hard each day. Someone needs to get him a glass of warm milk.

Jerk.

Lunardi has us as 4 in the west with 5 Kentucky or 12 Oklahoma/12 St. Mary's and 1 Xavier.

I will be pleasantly surprised if that comes to pass. As I said before the PAC12 tourney, we have everything to lose and nothing to gain. The PAC12 rpi
is terrible.

My prediction:

Lose and we are a 5, win and we get a 4

If ND is going to get love from the committee then they better go back and look at every team who has key players miss time and do those teams justice as well

If Arizona wins and they’re a 4, are they protected? And what

NYC has been at pains in this thread to show why a 3 is unlikely, with good reasons. But it’s hard to see the committee putting us on the 4 (or even 5!) line if we beat USC tonight. 3 in the West is big because we wouldn’t face the 1 until the E8 (just reminding of the obvious).

I hope we get Duke as our 1 and Xavier as our 2. Wouldn’t mind seeing Zaga somewhere in our region either. We owe them payback from last season.

So damn pumped for next week. I’ll be at the Venetian all weekend. Bear down!

No big changes from yesterday I think tbh

1s: Villanova, Virginia, Kansas, Xavier
2s: North Carolina, Duke, Cincinnati, Purdue
3s: Michigan, Michigan State, Auburn, Tennessee
4s: West Virginia, Arizona, Texas Tech, Wichita State or Gonzaga

UNC probably has a shot at #1 if they beat UVA.

Here's the team sheets for comparison for the final #3 seed. Auburn is likely a lock. Think it's between WVU, Tennessee, UofA for the spot.

Auburn will be a four seed IMO. I think it comes down to Tennessee and Arizona for the final three seed. That assumes that Kentucky defeats Tennessee tomorrow and we win tonight.

Tennessee’s RPI is significantly better particularly do to strength of schedule. They do have two more quadrant 1 wins than Arizona although their winning percentage is below .500 in those games.

I think there are two things that might work in our favor. The fact that we are what 18-3 when our big three are all playing will likely be a feather in our cap. Additionally I think that it is well known that Arizona will be one of the 5-8 favorites to cut down the nets and the selection committee is going to struggle with the idea of giving a one seed that sweet 16 matchup.

Edit: We would need Kansas to beat West Virginia as well. They win the B12 tournament and they have to be a three I would think.

Perhaps y’all are right and we’re topped out at a 4. That seems like a real disservice to the 1 seed in that bracket though.

Who is that 12th team that we simply can’t move past?

As I see it 10 teams are absolutely locked in above us:

Virginia
Nova
Kansas
UNC
Duke
Xavier
Michigan State
Cincinnati
Purdue
Michigan

Then I could definitely see the argument that Tennessee even with a loss tomorrow is ahead of us. But Gonzaga, West Virginia, Texas Tech, Wichita State, etc would be difficult to justify IMO.

If we win tonight, we will certainly be ahead of Texas Tech, West Virginia, Gonzaga and Wichita State. The debatable team is Auburn... and based on the last 3 weeks I say we are ahead of them too.

Tennessee, Wichita State, and Auburn are all ahead of us in RPI and Kenpom. Throw in a good showing by West Virginia and I don't see us moving by two of those teams, especially with a win over a bubble team in USC.

Wichita State didn’t win either their tournament or regular season conference crown. There is no way they get a three. Auburn as a three would surprise me as well. They are 9-6 in their last 15. Tennessee I would understand especially if they win tomorrow. But even with Tennessee getting a 3 there is still one left to be claimed.

Here is my final Bracketology:

As I have said all along, I am basing this on the top 16 that the NCAA selection committee put out on Feb 11. So first - here is that original top 16 (plus a few more added teams plus their W/L record since that time. Arizona was #15 on this list

1. Virginia (8-0)
2. Villanova (7-2)
3. Xavier (5-2)
4. Purdue (5-2)

5. Auburn (3-4)
6. Kansas (8-1)
7. Duke (6-2)
8. Cincinnati (6-2) (1 game to go)

9. Clemson (3-5)
10. Texas Tech (3-5)
11. Michigan State (5-1)
12. North Carolina (6-3)

13. Tennessee (7-1) (1 more game)
14. Ohio State (2-3)
15. Arizona (7-1) R
16. Oklahoma (2-5)

17 Michigan (8-0)
18. Gonzaga (7-0)
19. West Virginia (6-3)
20 Wichita State (6-2)
21 Kentucky (6-2) (1 more)

I’m going to take Oklahoma out of the equation since they completely self destructed. So the other 20 teams over this time had a total of 41 losses. That averages 2 losses a team. So less than 2 losses means probably moving up, 2 would keep you steady, more than 2 moves you down. 2 more meaningful games tomorrow, but I think this list holds no matter what happens in those games.

So here is my official final top 20:

1. Virginia
2. Villanova
3. Kansas
4. Xavier

5 Purdue
6. Duke
7. Cincinnati
8. Michigan State

9. Tennessee
10 Michigan
11. North Carolina
12. Arizona

13. Auburn
14. Gonzaga
15. West Virginia
16 Wichita State

17 Kentucky
18. Clemson
19. Texas Tech
20. Ohio State

Arizona 3 seed in the West....
