I'd welcome him with open arms as long as he's fine with playing a smaller role than he even did at UNLV, but in return win. This is transfer #3 for him, which oddly enough isn't that rare nowadays.
I dunno about him. His dad is high friggin maintenance.

Is he really? What about his son exactly would cause him to have demands (I assume that's what you mean by high maintenance)? I mean like I said if he's fine with a smaller role than he had at UNLV and wants to win then bring him on and if not then I'm totally fine without him as well.

It was when he left Oregon. His dad was pissed at Altman

No one was more upset about Carter's forgotten role than his father, Mike, who gets fired up at the mere mention of Altman and Oregon.

"Altman is a good coach, but I don't think he really believed in Ben," Mike Carter said. "He never got a chance. It was so frustrating for me. I don't know why he didn't play him. It was a mystery to me. He lost his confidence up there. Altman didn't give him confidence, and he lost it."

Mike Carter drove seven-plus hours from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City on Jan. 2, 2014, to watch his son play for Oregon against Utah. He recounts the trip as if it happened yesterday.

"I drove all the way up there in a snowstorm, and I literally got sideways on the road," Mike Carter said. "Ben played three minutes. That was disheartening. I drove all the way back after the game, mad all the way home."

Altman has won a lot of college games (539 in 27 seasons) and he's no fool, something both Carters repeatedly acknowledge.

"He's a great coach. He's been doing it for a long time. I always wish him the best," said Ben Carter, who was on two NCAA Tournament teams for the Ducks.

"I'm not going to speak on behalf of my father. He's entitled to his opinion. My father is very passionate about me. He raised me and taught me everything I know about the game of basketball, so I understand his frustrations."

Mike Carter played the game in college and for 17 years professionally, with stints in Argentina, Israel, Portugal, the Philippines and in the Continental Basketball Association. He also has coached on various levels. He says Altman never understood what his son was capable of doing.

"I'm all about proving the 'you don't know what you've got until it's gone' theory," Mike Carter said. "Altman is a good coach, but he just didn't use Ben."

God, please no. My dad was overbearing and overinvolved all the way up through high school and even he knew it was time to play the background in college. There was only one father like that in my three years and EVERYONE hated him - coaches, professional scouts, players, and the guy himself may not have hated his dad but i know for a fact he was seconds away from telling him to F off several times. Not worth it. Thats the typical self-induced god complex from a guy who has to keep reminding himself he is bigger than the typical guy who plays pro ball overseas.

That article does make it sound like it's all his father though. Zeus had a similar issue if I recall and I certainly wouldn't hold that against him. It's all about the player's attitude.

If and when Bolden commits to Duke, Kentucky will be the frontrunner for Jarrett Allen likely, so indeed the rich gets richer all around.

And you know what? I'm fine finishing 3rd behind those two. We're in outstanding company and still leading the Pac in recruiting, save for Cal last year.

Why recruiting "news" really isn't. Kid ended up at UW. This thread begins with discussion about Thornton, who ended up reclassifying. Then moves to T.J. Leaf and how to keep him happy. How? With Josh Jackson. Neither one coming.

Then when Miller says wait until spring before evaluating, he's ignored.

Oh well. Beats knocking off liquor stores, I guess.

However, Arizona has not confirmed the receipt of Alkins' letter-of-intent today, the first day of the spring signing period. Markannen signed in November and Arizona announced earlier today that it had received Simmons' LOI.

While UA coaches are still expecting Alkins to sign at some point, Alkins did not respond to a text message from the Star seeking comment about his plans.

Alkins just had a big magazine spread wearing a bunch of Arizona gear. He's coming. He may not sign his LOI, but then again he doesn't have to.

Thanks ChiCat! Good to know. Can't wait to see this young stud on the court! Funny, been using that term a lot for this class, 'stud' but damn if it doesn't fit them all.

Just a few days ago he tweeted about the fact he gets to play against a good buddy of his who just committed to New Mexico next season. I'm sure every thing is fine. Process is a bit more complicated for him since he's in North Carolina and he needs his mother's signature whom is in New York.

Even if Elliot came back, he might not see any court time. Too much talent coming in. Rawle and Terrance might have what it takes to ramp up Arizona's missing defensive toughness. We know both guys can put numbers on the board.

If Elliott came back he'd dominate just like he did from 85 to 89. ;)

He averaged 8 ppg for a middling UNLV team. If he wants a starring role, it should be clear that Arizona (or Mich St, Miami or NCSU) are not for him.

He's a guy that would find a way to get minutes here unfortunately. My beef is that minutes for him takes away minutes from Ray, Lauri, and probably Comanche. I'm of the opinion that more minutes for our young guys throughout the season the better off we'll be in the tournament, especially since they are more talented than Carter. Now if he's ok with being a practice body who will see time if there's an unfortunate injury then bring him aboard.
