I'm predicting it now, Alkins will be near Rondae levels of popular. He seems to have a similar level of talent meets humbleness and fun

Why not both (especially on the defensive end. . .)?

Ok, over the weekend I tried watching the Ballislife AA game. Before we go further, I know it's an allstar game, and adjusted my defensive expectations accordingly.

Good lord, that was some of the worst basketball I've ever seen in a quasi-organized setting. The D made the McD's game look like the Bad Boy Pistons and there were double figure alley oops chucked out of bounds.

I know it's an allstar game. Ferguson and Alkins have bright futures in Arizona uniforms. That game showcased nothing, though. Ugh.

Must suck to cover these games as part of a recruiting website. Some truly bad basketball to behold.

RA and TF with just some nasty, nasty dunks in here. Gonna be one of the most athletic teams Miller's had.

given the summer circuit is so important to college recruiting, I am surprised it continues to devolve into chuck and duck basketball. The coaches can't be in every high school gym to recruit, but the summer AAU and, to some extent, all star circuit allows one setting to watch multiple players. It is more important than the school season...so it is surprising the coaches haven't exerted some pressure to have the games truly showcase all applicable skills.

Both he and Kobi will have ups and downs, but they are both highly rated guys for a reason. That's why if we get Trier and PJC back, this could be a dangerous team.

Alkins is, as promised, a Miller-type player. He's like Parrom but with more talent.

“We had two other freshmen really step up,” Miller said of Alkins and Simmons. “You look at what they did tonight: 15-of-28 from the field, 7-of-13 from three, eleven rebounds, 38 points, both of ‘em played 37 minutes.”

“That’s why we were able to win the basketball game.”

In the massively underrated book "Loose Balls" by Terry Pluto, there's a great anecdote about Fly Williams. His team was down big at the half, and the coach gave a 5 minute impassioned speech about how there was only one way for them to get back into the game, and that was to play as a team. He spoke about how they needed to rely on each other, share the ball and help on defense.

Then, just before they headed back out on the floor, he asked if the players had anything to add. Fly chimed in "you all just need to throw me the ball and get out of the way and I'll handle this."

Is that the ABA book? "Fly's open. Go Peay!"

Shortstop Garry Templeton had the right attitude when asked about the All-Star game: "If I ain't startin', I ain't departin'..."

Rawle's build and style of play is that of a mythical god or ancient warrior. He's like an Ares, Kratos, Shaka Zulu, Leonidas or Maximus.
