I would feel better if Oregon wasn't getting so many wide open looks and only winning by 3 because Oregon's tallest guy on the court most of the night was 6'6"LBdCactus wrote:basketballgod wrote:Is anyone here actually impressed by tonight's victory?
Oregon missed so many wide open 3s and lost their best defensive player before the game...and still had a shot.
Yes. 24 hours after a grueling game, against the press late in the second half, against the BS fouls, etc...etc... Would you feel better if Lauri and PJC hit those 4 FT's? Have to imagine the only reason they missed was fatigue. 3 games in 3 days, and the still cut down the nets. So yes!
Oregon is totally fucked going forward because of the injury and their size and Arizona barely held on against them on a very off night.

Couple of shoutouts from this weekend. First, to the 50 year old drunk ucla fan who yelled at us to get out of the section behind the uCla bench cause we were "SDSU rejects".
Second, to the drunk Oregon fan who hours later on the strip yelled out "We are gonna beat you by 30 again tomorrow!"
Karma bitches.

I gotta say, that UA fans get a lot of grief over behaviors from other fan bases. They essentially hate the "U of A" chants that permeate every arena that we play in.
But damn, there were some assholes in Vegas. I know liquor was to blame for alot of it, but all I could think of as we continued to advance to Saturday night and into Sunday was: Damn, it feels good be a gangsta. Knowing full well I was going to walk into work on Monday, like Peter in Office Space:
Here's the view from the seats that the uCla douche got all upset we were sitting in:

I also have a video of the "last second" timeout that Miller called...forgot I had filmed that and zoomed in just prior to that moment. I'll try to upload that as well.

Re: 2017 PAC12 Tournament
Thoughts on the weekend.
The new arena is very nice but very big. Even the title game was not a full house. I know that the conference needs a better arena but I much prefer MGM GGA to T-Mobile. It is very nice though. But do not like how you can't get in and out like at MGM GGA so easily and there is no entry unless "you forgot you medication in the car". Also it just doesn't have as much of a home feel to it being so much bigger. Seemed louder to me for U of A in MGM GGA.
One thing I did like and I am not sure if it was an option before but you could upgrade your seats at the game. Got a link during the UCLA game to move from the upper section to the lower level right behind the band for $10. Also had the option to move down for the championship game before tipoff. That was cool and worth it.
No issues with any fans from other teams but Oregon. Some fan for Oregon when they were playing the scum cheered like they won the title for every point. Then the title game there were some bad ones around. I am sure there were U of A fans just as bad in other areas and yes the alcy played a role I am sure.
U of A owns Vegas this weekend and all the events at Planet Hollywood and Diablo's proved it. Just insane. Red everywhere. Felt like a home game for sure the entire way. Very impressed with everything with the U of A and the team from the weekend. Just need Kobi to get back on track and to make those clutch free throws.

Game was sold out. In fact, attendance was reported to be 100 more than official capacity. So I'm guessing if there were empty seats they were UCLA fans who couldn't get rid of their tickets.PHXCATS wrote:The new arena is very nice but very big. Even the title game was not a full house.

That jives with what I was told too, the last two nights were sold out.Chicat wrote:Game was sold out. In fact, attendance was reported to be 100 more than official capacity. Walton, Miller and the team praised the new arena ("a palace" that is "absolutely state of the art") and the packed Arizona crowd for the final two games.
Re: 2017 PAC12 Tournament
Yeah I went to the last two games, and the arena was the perfect size. They had the super upper level curtained off, that probably would have added another 2k seats. But Friday night was completely full, and Saturday was close enough that there's really nothing to complain about. I've heard tickets were a lot cheaper to get than in previous years, which is entirely due to the size of the arena.
No option to upgrade seats, but there's no reason to do that since the building was full both nights.

Re: 2017 PAC12 Tournament
I am not saying there were tons of empty seats but there were some for sure.
I upgraded twice but there were empties here and there. If it is 18k it probably had 17.4k Friday and Saturday. Might be splitting hairs but I was not expecting to see any minus a few seats here and there and saw pockets of empties.
Could it be the casino tickets that they comp high rollers that were unused?
My wife was able to get three mid court upper for under face morning of.

Also I thought it was interesting that Miller didn't stop the booing of Scott like he did two years ago.

I'm sure for recruiting purposes CSM would like his team to be on TV in more than a handful of markets at a time.PHXCATS wrote:Also I thought it was interesting that Miller didn't stop the booing of Scott like he did two years ago.

One of the senior banking partners I work for is the type of UCLA fan that never goes to a home game but uses this as an excuse to go to Vegas once a year.Chicat wrote:Yeah, all of a sudden. Dude tried to dump commitment papers on me on Sunday morning because he was pissed off. I told him he'd had plenty of time to rest on Saturday since UCLA wasn't playing and he should do them himself

Any video of Scott getting booed? I had to miss the game and fly home for a family event. Would love to see/hear that scumbag get his once again (see Chi's sig)

Also: the Pac-12 featured back to back top ten matchups in the semi-final and final, both with Arizona of course.
Midnight and 11pm EST tip offs.
Like, are you fucking kidding me? That's the best we could do? 11pm EST on a Saturday. Really. GTFO Larry Scott.

Re: 2017 PAC12 Tournament
I bought my tickets when they first went on sale, and ended up with the "Best Seat Available " which ended up being in the handicapped accessible row. When I got there before the first session, I really didn't want to use the handicapped row in case somebody handicapped actually needed it. The usher said to check with customer service and see if I could switch seats. When I checked with customer service, they said all seats in the lower section were sold out and the last two night the entire arena was sold out. The only way to change my seats to something comparable would have been if someone needing to sit in the handicapped row had actual seats in my section but down in the bowl.PHXCATS wrote:I am not saying there were tons of empty seats but there were some for sure.

I'm guessing the fans of teams that lost never bothered even showing up again. The seat next to me would have been empty too but the guy asked me if I wanted his ticket and he just gave it to me. Otherwise, it would have gone home with him.

We are the equivalent of a mid major conference under Scott.
