It seems infrequent that guys will pull the trigger right after an in home, especially when they've got other in homes lined up with sexy programs. It's like they want to soak up all the love and hospitality possible, even when they've known for months where they're going.

I believe Comanche is visiting this weekend.
On 1290 the other day Scheer said he wouldn't be surprised if he committed.

Wouldn't be surprised either.

Rabb and/or Zimmermann, however, is not going to be a fall verbal IMHO.

catgrad97, do you have some specific info on Zimmerman's intent re timing?

I can see IR holding out to his oft repeated date of Spring 2015, but I wonder about Zimm. I feel Coach is pursuing a risk management strategy re IR; hence, opening the Bragg door nice and wide and strengthening our pursuit of Zimm. It feels like if we could lock Zimm in the Fall we'd happily snap him up and call it a day.

Zimm's a true C and has a promising future, witness his sweet performance during the USA U18 team's 5 game run. He shot beautifully(.636avg.) largely from mid range, and amped the team with his passing every time he was in. His Scoring average was 8.8 pts and he pulled 6.2 boards averaging 15 minutes PT.

A knock on Zimmerman is body strength which probably can be improved significantly this year and in the future with Cat regimen.

Rabb's timing strategy is unrealistic. A Cal can afford to wait. Arizona, with a terrific '15 recruiting start and top 10 probability can't afford to wait. I feel if IR sticks with his date and we can get a Fall commit from a talent like Zimm we should snap him up and move on with our '15 goal of being a strong NC contender.

The marginal difference between the potential of these two players versus taking the risk of coming up dry in the Spring-----how do you guys look at the calculus?

It's starting to seem like whoever commits first gets the 'ship. Rabb is and always has been Plan A, but Zimm is probably a close second, followed by Bragg. I think Coach would be very happy with any of these three. How many more scholarships do we have to offer for '15?

I feel like it is a positive that Rabb is going to wait til the Spring to decide, especially because it sounds like he has been leaning toward other programs. I think that the combination of how impressive Arizona will be this year and that it is still relatively close to home for Rabb will tip the odds in our favor. If Martin has a good first year at Cal that could changes things

Although Bash went down up at Cal last year, up at their place is always a tough one. Of course every team treats their games with us like its their super bowl...but...we are going to be mighty talented, massive, and experienced this season. Massive.

PGU. For the record, this is because I have a Facebook friend who linked it. For all I know, this is another premature call like Victor that will actually hamper our efforts.

No, pgu prematurely tweeted Victor committing and the rumor was that Victor was mad and we had to overcome that to eventually land him. I think Victor has potential to be a rock solid 4 year guy we grow to love.

He said it on 1290 as well but Ace's followers keep paying for that premium info they are getting at PGU.

Current likely lineup:

Big men--Comanche/Ristic/ Anderson/Victor.

"Room for one more if you still wanna go to Aspen (insert Final Four site for Aspen as needed)."

Wings--Trier/Simon/Smith/Pitts/York/Allen.

Again we're crowded, and it would be really nice if someone was ready to play the 1 in this group, because...

I'm not an insider, but I'd think low. The most likely scenario (knock on wood this won't happen) is foot concerns dog Ashley and he wants to get a fully healthy year in to allay those concerns.

Beyond that, I think both are interested in the pros, won't see much bump from returning and are unlikely to stay.

I don't have any insider knowledge, but I would but do follow UA basketball very closely and would have to say the chance of either staying is pretty low assuming normal career progressions. However if either gets injured or does not progress as expected than maybe they will stay.

Yup. Plus we could have a transfer is my guess.

As for the current year, they are fighting for a spot in the 8 players that will get minutes, which is what Miller has told them. You can guess the starting five...and then three more spots really...

I actually think we are going to be undefeated in the regular season, just like we should have been last season. Only difference is that we were by far and away the best team in the country last year w/ Brash, this year we have at least 3 other teams that might be able to make that claim even if we go into the tourney undefeated.

Don McLean trying to hold anybody accountable for failure is funny.

As for the early departures, only holding out hope that Tarczewski will want to dominate the game at the 5 next season. It's a hope--and we'll need him if the inexplicable happens and Bragg, Rabb and Zimmermann all prima donna on this program and go elsewhere.

Johnson's a one-and-done, McConnell and Korcheck will have graduated, Rondae and Ashley will have blown up past the point of no return if they both can enjoy a healthy year.

Rooting for any of those three undergrads to stick around is pretty much rooting for injury at this point, which, if you're a Cats fan, is tantamount to treason.

Unless there's any possible circumstance that would get SJ to stay that I'm somehow missing...
