Road in conference is always hard that is why no team has ever gone undefeated in the PAC-10 or PAC-12.

This game will be close. Stanford is big and can rebound. The only way this is a double digit win is if we press and they turn it over even more than usual.

I've seen speculation from more than one source that Kriisas absence may have been due to his comments about the refs. I blew it off at first but then I realized that Coach Lloyd is the sort of fellow who would not have been amused at the stunt.

Well olsondogg....I was surprised the game was so easy in the second half. You don't normally beat a team this bad after giving up 21 offensive boards (hence they are big and can rebound statement). Their TO's were terrible but no worse than usual for them. Our defense was really good most of the night which always makes me happy.

I'm only going to say this once, and if asked to repeat it I will deny.

Choo, you were right.

I'm really starting to think that Lloyd was a major part of Gonzaga's evolution. I was skeptical at first because I felt that we were already in the right direction, and I thought that Lloyd's reputation was pure hype but you cannot deny the results on the court. I have never felt this way about our teams even when Lute was coaching.

We lost Koloko and Tubelis for most of the game and gave up an obscene amount of offensive rebounds and still won by 27. When I watch them play I don't get worried we have an early deficit, I just know that the team will adapt and overcome. Again, like a broken record, small sample size but this team is a cut above UCLA and USC.
If UCLA lost two impact players against a solid opponent, I don't think that they would recover.

That being said, I hope Lloyd remains focused. We still have a lot of questions marks with recruiting, and before the tournament comes, we need to clean up some things. This is only year one, and other coaches that succeeded greatly with another regime's players (Tubby and Ollie come to mind.) faded over time. I hope Lloyd is as aggressive as Fisch when it comes to revamping the program. But all things considered, I've been pleasantly surprised.

I mean y’all prayed for a Miller team (which was a monster on D when he has it rolling) to have this kind of ball movement with multiple weapons.

And you also have a lotto pick vying for PAC POY

This is a special team.

11 opponents held under 40% shooting this year. Insane.

Roxy did mention that average height is 6’7”, that is a lot of wingspan.
Larsson is probably the slowest non-post and he can still move.
The posts are quick, even Ballo seems to be getting better at court position.
When these guys are making shots they are relentless.

Only thing I worry about this year is depth. Hopefully Tubelis injury is not significant. I really think we need to free our bench vs Cal if we want to have legs for the quick turn to UCLA

On ORB's, some of that is just they missed 49 shots and we missed 25. They had basically double the chances for offensive boards we did and that will trigger some disparity. It's why the overall rebounds were close despite those 21 offensive boards.

We're very good on D. I didn't get to watch as last night was another late start, but we had decent offensive metrics but D is just stellar. 17 to's and 30% shooting from an opponent will win lots of games.

There isn't necessarily a correlation. Look at Penny Hardaway at Memphis. Pulls hugely talented recruits every year. Makes zero NCAA tournaments and massively disappoints with those same recruits every year.

Recruiting is its own thing.

I honestly wouldn’t worry about Lloyd on the recruiting trail, and enjoy the product now. Recruits are pieces of a puzzle, not the solution.

Even the most ardent Miller fans love what they are seeing. It’s fun.

I have to remember that when Miller first arrived he re-recruited Solomon hill and pulled DWill and a few others. He had some misses early on with Josh Shelby and Doron Lamb. But he did recruit some high level guys that didn’t happen to pan out (Josiah and Sidiki come to mind).

Long story short, let’s see what he pulls fo 2023.
