Didn’t we have just two Miller players left this year? Kind of scary in a wayMerkin wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 12:01 pmSame, especially with so much speculation Kriisa is heading to the bench.
Neither are really getting any better next season and both being around 21 might want to start getting paid. Larsson seems to have so much more potential than either of those two. Look for him to excel with the Swedish National Team.
I wish them both the best if they leave, but probably won't miss them. Need to start rebuilding with Lloyd's players.

Why would you say that? The portal will continue to fill up over the next month and Arizona has two major playing opportunities available at SG and SF.

We really need high level athletes with size and skill. I doubt many, if any, of those guys hit the portal because they usually enter the draft like Mathurin, Terry, and Koloko.GlobalCat wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 5:04 pmarizonawildcats wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 3:07 pm CTL has to start landing these HS/international targets. Agree. Super weird to demand coaches and players perform to a fan's expectation. Also love when fans call loses unacceptable. What happens next then?

Of course it’s weird to demand that coaches perform up to fan expectations. That’s why Kevin Sumlin is still the Arizona football coach and will be until he dies and ascends to heaven on his celestial Swagcopter.

With the newer rules, there is no harm in declaring for the NBA, go the camps, get professional feedback, then return, which I totally expect him to do. Of course his weaknesses are well known. Not quick enough to play good defense, no outside shot, and unable to use his right hand.
During summer workouts, Lloyd sure tie Zu's left arm behind his back.

And fix that jump shot, which has a very low release for such a big guy.Merkin wrote: ↑Tue Mar 21, 2023 11:02 am With the newer rules, there is no harm in declaring for the NBA, go the camps, get professional feedback, then return, which I totally expect him to do. Follow the Channing Frye example. Stay all four years. Develop a lethal three point shot. Play a decade in the NBA.

Re: Ąžuolas Tubelis
Channing also developed a lot of toughness. He used to be called Shannon or Charmin, and even Hassan called him "Ham sandwich".
Lot different game back then. Can you imagine Sean Elliott staying 4 years now?
Sean Rooks not only stayed 4 years, he redshirted as a freshman. Still had a very long NBA career.
Gumbies! Buechler had a decent NBA career too. Harvey Mason was also very successful in the music industry. Although today I am sure Harvey has a very poor opinion of the UA.

Mathurin was also second team consensus AA and in the Ring of Honor.
Does this mean that Zu will be also?

Wooden Award All-American!!
Arizona’s Azuolas Tubelis named Wooden Award All-American
By Ezra Amacher Mar 30, 2023, 5:14pm PDT
Azuolas Tubelis can add another All-American honor to his name.
Arizona’s junior forward was named to the John R. Wooden Award All-American team on Thursday, one of 10 players selected.
Other Wooden All-Americans are Zach Edey (Purdue), Trayce Jackson-Davis (Indiana), Jaime Jaquez Jr. (UCLA), Brandon Miller (Alabama), Jalen Pickett (Penn State), Marcus Sasser (Houston), Drew Timme (Gonzaga), Oscar Tshiebwe (Kentucky), and Jalen Wilson (Kansas).
The 6-foot-11 Tubelis averaged 19.8 points and 9.1 rebounds this season, leading the Pac-12 in both categories. Tubelis recorded 14 double-doubles, including a 40-point effort against Oregon at home.
Tubelis was previously named a consensus All-American after receiver Second Team honors from the NABC, USBWA, The Sporting News and the Associated Press. Tubelis is Arizona’s 14th all-time consensus All-American.

He definitely belongs in that group of players with what he accomplished this year.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

There are a lot of people doubting he will get drafted, but I'm not sure. I think he could get selected if he declares this year. I'd like to see him come back and improve his outside shooting and defense while proving his toughness in March. Pac-12 POY and first round pick material.
Re: Ąžuolas Tubelis
The last one I saw had Zu as a mid 2nd rounder.

Re: Ąžuolas Tubelis
Last I read he was a UFA, so not even 2nd round.
The AA status makes him more likely to be invited to the NBA camp, but his weaknesses are more than well known.
Like Bill Walton says, he will continue to be left handed all game.

CTL hasn't shown him the door. I'm sure they've talked about these things. He'll probably test the draft waters and go from there. I know nothing about international basketball vs. NIL money, so I can't weigh in on that.Postmaster wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 8:59 pmDo you think those are things CTL would force him to work on?arizonawildcats wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 6:27 pm There are a lot of people doubting he will get drafted, but I'm not sure. A company can use his Name, image and likeness (an existing picture of him for example) to sell cups, shirts, whatever. But he cannot promote that product/event. He cannot pose for the picture, he cannot post about the product on social, he can’t even tell his friends or family about the product. But he would be able to profit a percentage from the product sales. Once he “promotes” it..it becomes active instead of passive.CardiacCats97 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 8:44 amI think it means they can’t do any work. I imagine the Arizona assist does this, and gives a % to the athletes, without the athletes promoting it.
