That is what will get Bobby fired. High expectations...no results. Did anyone notice they did not identify the PAC automatic qualifier?

Has there ever been a coach, in the history of the NCAA tourney, who was a #1 seed in the first two seasons of his head coaching career?

We went from a 1 in the West to a 3 in the South because of one loss?

Did Lunardi beat his children for getting B+’s?

No one really has a clue who the good teams are and who will struggle. I personally thought NC was way over rated and was only there because of last years late season run. They were way to dependent on one player who got hot but we will see. Maybe they are just late bloomers.

It's one of those years where, sure, being a #1 seed is always sexy, but I love our chances regardless. Get me a top 4 seed, a healthy roster, and we're a legit contender.

Someone needs to explain NET rankings to me. I just glanced at them for the 1st time this season. We are #11 in NET

https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketbal ... t-rankings

How the hell are we 11 and St Mary's is 6?!!! Here is what NET rankings say:

Rank Team Conf Record Road Neutral Home Quad 1 Quad 2 Quad 3 Quad 4
6 Saint Mary's WCC 17-4 3-0 3-2 11-2 1-2 5-0 7-2 4-0
11 Arizona Pac-12 17-3 2-2 4-0 11-1 6-2 2-1 3-0 6-0

There is basically no metric that they are better at (Except Quad 2... but they have 2 quad 3 losses and we don't have any)

I don't get it

Good point AL.
I don't get it either except for when you look at true road records, they are 3-0 and we are 2-2.

I don't know anything either with rankings but KenPom has St Mary's at 7 and we're at 15. Maybe all our victories are too close for the computer rankings. Look at UCLA, we hardly moved in the computer rankings and I think it's because the final score was closer than the actual game. Our losses aren't good either especially to #67 WSU at home in a blowout

Our bracket did us no favors last season. A lower seeding and better bracket is fine by me.

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. Seedings don't matter, match ups and peaking at the right time do. On a side note Tommy Lloyd #2 (Scott Drew's long time assistant Jerome Tang), is up to number 5 in the AP poll. I think CTL could learn some things from him on defense and to recruiting players that are not necessarily highly ranked but are athletic and ready on day one.

We play defense like that and we will have a great chance to advance far. This teams seems better suited to physical, slow it down type games. We just have to keep the intensity up for 40 minutes a game. That is where we struggle IMO

Well we will get to see if this new defensive intensity holds up on the road as we play WSU this Thursday. UCLA is offensively challenged where WSU has no expectations, can score from deep and is essentially playing with house money. That is a dangerous combination.

One of the guys on the fielding the 68 podcast has us as the 4th 1 seed in front of Kansas, Houston and UCLA, this was before Kansas lost to Baylor, and the other bracketologist had is the first 2 seed behind Kansas and Tennessee.

So there's that for you, because seeding the tournament in January always means so much.

We are 4-0 in quad 1A which nobody else is.

That is basically the top half of Quad 1
Top 15 home win
Top 25 neutral win
Top 40 away win

Also, we are one of six teams with 6 or more quad 1 wins.

Seth can whatever his whatever.

This is a good indicator, we've had some slip ups, but in games where we were dialed in and were relevant nationally, we have performed well. That bodes well for tourney time.

We just need to play those games like we have played the other tough games, and win them!!!

This weekend will tell a lot. If we win these games on the road in a convincing manner we will reap the benefits. Our problem is losing to teams we shouldn't not pulling out tough games against good teams.

We just gotta hope wazzu beats the gerbils, they became a quad 3 loss at home recently, which does not help our net.

I mean in addition to beating the hell out of both of these Washington teams on the road, that part should go without saying.

Got Sean potentially playing Bobby Hurley in the second round. What a gift. Also has us potentially playing the Zags.

I was looking at some site (I forgot the name now) that lets you compare teams stats side by side. About 25 or 30 metrics something like that.

I called up UCLA, UA, Xavier, Gonzaga.

They were all so close they might as well have been the same team!

I suppose AZ, ucla and Gonzaga are mainly competing to stay in the West region at this point. Barring something unexpected, all will be "protected seeds" (1-4) and therefore playing in western cities for the rounds of 64 and 32. But only one or two of these teams will have a shot at that West regional (S16/E8) in Vegas. Btw, have we talked about Vegas yet?! Holy shite. What a scene that'll be if AZ gets there.

I'd take this bracket in a heartbeat too. Houston has not looked good lately against their mid-major conference.

So weird to keep seeing Bama as the Midwest 1 and Purdue as the South 1, but it does make sense when you consider how close Purdue is to Louisville as opposed to Kansas City.
