Yup.

Arizona comes in out of nowhere. UK and Duke get dropped from consideration. I hope this is a Miller trend but this late-push, out-of-nowhere player interest from Kobi to Rawle to Deandre is becoming awesome! Now Diallo and Bowen both looking possible and Ira Lee seeming likely.

This class could be a monster.

Two of Daejon Davis/Diallo/Walker/Bowen/Trent would be an excellent class of wings.

PG-Kobi/PJC/Barcello
SG-Rawle or Diallo plus that transfer whose name I forget.
SF-Ray or Bowen. If we can keep Rawle or Ray and add Bowen or Diallo, we should be solid on the wing. Add both (or another good prospect) and we are scary.
PF-Lee and Chance
C-Ayton and Dusan

This is my wish list for 17-18.

If we have Ayton, Comanche and Ristic on the team next year, is Lee an necessity?

Dusan could always go back to Europe, then ya gotta remember Ayton isn't a guarantee

Dusan is never really going to be the defender we want. Lee has some potential as a combo forward, so yeah, I'd still want him. Is he a necessity, well, that's a philosophical question on some level too.

Umm considering Ristic and Ayton wouldn't be back the following year, yes Hater having a 4 with experience on the team would be a good thing.

Lee isn't a 5 star and he's not a combo forward. He's a 4 all the way. Ristic, Ayton, Comanche are really all 5s fwiw as well, although I'm sure if it keeps them happy Comanche/Ayton will get play at the 4 here and there.

The ratings are sometimes misleading. We've been after Lee for a while, so CSM must think highly of him. That's enough for me.

by ChooChooCat
I think the ratings are dead on about him. Lee is an undersized 4 who is a high effort guy. He has a decent mid range shot, but outside of that lacks an offensive game that isn't revolved around put backs. I mean if you're looking for a comparison then Craig Victor is your guy. He's an important piece if he stays around unlike Victor. He's an Arizona kid born and bred although he's out of the state now. If there's a guy like him that's a local you take him.

The only thing I'm iffy on about him is he's a bit injury prone. Hopefully getting into a collegiate strength and conditioning program remedies those issues though.

I have a different comparison. Lee reminds me (especially lately) of Brandon Ashley. That offensive game (faceup J, junk around the rim and decent off hand) is where BA was a freshman.

I know listed h/w can be unreliable, but Lee is 6'8, 225 and Ashley was 6'8, 215. In the interest of full disclosure, I've just been following youtube packages for Lee, but even there, he seems to be growing his game at a decent pace.

Edit: the BA comparison is also why I see him as a potential combo forward. BA was a natural 4 but could play the 3 in a pinch.

So apparently Pima has a game this Saturday against a team that Miller is recruiting 3 guys from? I heard they are trying to reschedule the game so Miller can attend. On Pima's website it shows them playing a scrimmage against Planet Athlete and then Elite 1. I cant find roster info anywhere, who might these 3 players be?

October 22, Pima heads to Phoenix to play Hillcrest Prep where Ayton plays. Might have to make the trip

Yeah, this happened about a week ago.

Miller isn't giving folks the Justise Winslow treatment with Official Visits if they are likely to pull a Justise Winslow and only visit for the... Fun of it.

Programs only have so many Officials. And Arizona needed to have them for folks actually interested in playing for Arizona.

So we're not getting Trent. Diallo and Duval are still options, presumably. Unless KS or RA leaves after one season, we may be okay without adding another guard to the '17 class. We'll have those two plus PJC, Barcello, Smith, and Cruz. So that's 6 guards if no one leaves.

Hard to know where Kentucky or Duke will finish... BUT..

A perfect class with a blend of immediate superstar talent and guys that will contribute for several years if not all 4. It has shooting, defense and rebounding. JUST WOW.

Randolph's been showing some AZ lean lately. Might be tough to beat Cuonzo for McCoy. And I love our chances for Lee. So the above class might be a long shot, but certainly possible.

Miller in on another top player:

http://www.scout.com/college/north-caro ... vanderbilt" target="_blank

“The schools I’m probably going to visit are Arizona, Texas, Kentucky, North Carolina, and I haven’t decided the fifth one yet,” he said. “It’s probably going to be between Oregon or Kansas.”
When discussing those finalists, Vanderbilt highlighted Arizona’s Sean Miller (as the coach recruiting him the hardest), Kentucky’s professional training, Texas's potentially good fit.

I think the big question is, if he comes here, do we get the real McCoy? Or the mid-90's group Real McCoy. Or possibly not the real McCoy at all?

I did a media marketing project back in school for Guilio Scalinger's class where I pitched a documentary based upon the John Feinstein book "A Season Inside".

You had to write a treatment, do financials, etc. My plan was to follow 3 college basketball players and a recruit...Hoop Dreams style, except Hoop Dreams had not happened. I had Damon Stoudamire (of course), Some kid named Nygard (?) from Wisconsin Green Bay, another random low level player, and my high school recruit was Jelani McCoy.

My co-producer (read...one who did not have his project picked) was with the basketball team staff, so we were able to use the AD color printer and he was able to send requests for media material on our "subjects". Basically, that dude did the leg work, I wrote the treatment and compiled the budget, then went to his place to hammer it out on his old Apple (well, it was new then...I had a Tandy 1000 with a dot matrix printer the size of my condo, so...).

At first, Scalinger was critical of my pitch. And I can see why...another kid with a baseball cap pitching a sports movie. But I wasn't a jock or frat boy...I may have looked it, but I did my homework. We took a week break for Guilio to attend Sundance...where he saw Hoop Dreams.

He came back absolutely on fire for my project. Like I think he wanted me to make it. I was a Poly Sci kid at the time thinking I was going to law school and just had media interest. I had no idea I would some day be chewed up and spit out by that industry and wind up in risk management and implementations (does anyone choose to go into either?). I just wanted a good grade and an illegal cable box I could get from my partner if I did all the work.

Jelani McCoy's high school actually sent some info since it was the Arizona AD asking (this was before he committed). I wonder if they told him we were requesting bio info (that had to be a question mark since we were recruiting him...but recruiting was a bit more innocent in 1993 or whenever)...

That's it...my Jelani McCoy story.
