I’d be curious to see how their rankings stack up over a 5 year stretch in regard to college results and draft position.

Eh. If Lloyd's recruiting approach is what it's supposed to be, we'll be seeing a lot of this.

To base a developmental recruiting approach, you need to get accustomed to fewer 5 stars and more 4 stars with potential that they can and will realize over multiple years.

It isn't a bad thing. Benn Mathurin was barely inside the top 100 and Christian Koloko was a 3 star. My hope Lloyd has the same eye for potential Sean Miller did.

Saw a report that CTL is watching Matas Buzelis today. I thought we weren't recruiting him for some reason.

Is this a thing? Or is Tommy just watching him play after or before a different player we have our eyes on?

It's been a thing for a long time, but it's been expected he was going to go to Duke or Kentucky (likely Kentucky at this point), but Tommy hasn't stopped trying.

Worst he can do is say no, kinda thing then?

Yeah, Tommy has shown he doesn't just throw out offers. There must be some amount of traction.

Travis Branham dropped a crystal ball for Gonzaga several hours ago so thats probably a safe bet

Oregon has long been thought of as the favorite to land Evans, but Arizona is a serious player and should be viewed as a threat to steal the five-star away from the Ducks. Head coach Tommy Lloyd has made quick progress when it comes to relationship building and seems close to having his Wildcats on level footing with Oregon in the race to land Evans’ letter of intent. 20 years together...I'm assuming they think pretty similarly about recruiting.

Heck, Dylan Anderson was Gonzaga vs Arizona and Lloyd's first commit when he made the move.

KJ Evans, KJ Lewis, and Kylan Boswell would be a dream class. That's the toughness and shot making and team-first play that we want.

Making news via social media on Tuesday, it was announced that Evans will be making a few visits this summer, and one of the visits will be to Tucson.

Hunter was a HECK of a college player, so that’s pretty exciting.

I am guessing he will be a walk-on. Also, don't know if he would be eligible next year.

Matas Buzelis is one of the more intriguing prospects in the entire country standing roughly 6-foot-9, 175-pounds with ball skills, talent as a passer and shooting ability. His game has drawn offers from the top schools in the country including Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina.

He has already taken three official visits to Kentucky in December, Florida State in September and Wake Forest last August.

Kentucky would be the current betting favorites but don't sleep on the G League and also the North Carolina Tar Heels are starting to gain some momentum.

He told 247Sports recently that he is focusing on the three schools he has already visited but UCLA and Arizona are also in the mix and there is plenty more to play out as the five-star doesn't appear to be in any rush making a decision.

Too early prediction: Kentucky


One of the best long-term prospects in the entire class is Kwame 'KJ' Evans, the current No. 8 overall prospect in the class. He has great size, length fluidity, makes shots from three and can defend every position out on the court.

He recently cut his list down to five schools but that quickly grew back to seven, indicating that he is still open to new options entering in the mix.

Evans cut his list to: Auburn, Indiana, Kentucky, Oregon and UCLA in early April but Arizona and Miami have recently entered the picture, and Evans has set up an official visit to go out to Arizona.

He has already taken other visits to Oregon and Kentucky and for a while Oregon was the team to beat but after some changes on staff, the door seems to have opened a bit. The three teams I am keeping a close eye on in the coming months are Kentucky and Arizona.

Too early prediction: Arizona

‘23 is looking better and better. But next season has a lot of questions.
