Well if Few left Gonzaga we might lose Tommy. In fact I would expected it if the dollars are close. Let's hope we are talking another decade or so.
Think this is only a concern if Few leaves pretty soon. Few is only 59, which is pretty young in coaching years.
Once Tommy's been in Tucson for a few years, and gets the program really, really thriving again, I can't see him walking away from that.
Not the exact situation, but some similarities: does anyone really think Cronin is leaving for Louisville? Not a chance.

Why would he go to Gonzaga? Because he's fond of it?
I mean, you spend 20 years somewhere, maybe you become attached to it? I dunno.
Those gray, windblown winter skies caressing gray, windblown filthy snow clogged with fetid rotting leaves ..... calls to him even now.

I think he said somewhere that Arizona was his dream job.
I had my dream job once, consulting Forester, if it would have paid me even 1 million a year I would not be doing what I am now. Even 80,000.
Since I don't have my dream job, I do spend more time with my family than I might if I did, so it's probably better this way.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

My experience is that forestry, especially contract forestry, is an absolute relationship/marriage wrecker. You did well.

If I had to go to that dark corner near Idaho where I can't even run my potty mouth, I'd probably nail my scrotum to the balcony and jump.
The Aryan Nation would catch you in their loving arms and nurse you back to health behind barbed wire and a mine-laden free-fire zone of sovereign freedumb.

Always appreciate the input from this dumb fuck
Does he also tweet when Kansas loses to TCU or Auburn loses to Florida or Purdue loses to Michigan? Or is it only the score of Arizona's games he's fixated on for the most part?
Question about our Pac win total. Up until recently, we always played 18 Pac games, and no team has ever gone 18-0. If we win on Saturday, though, we'll be 18-2. Will that be the first time in league history a team finishes with 18 conference wins?

Kind of a weird record but I’ll take it. A .900 winning percentage is amazing.

I'm still bitter about that BS double bounce 3-point shot Adam Spanich from U$C hit to deny us 18-0 in 1998.
i still for my money believe that was the best team ever at AZ with a Junior in Jason Terry and 1st Team All-American in Mike Bibby - i was at the game at the pond when George Karl gave Rick Majerus the secret sauce on the back of a Morten's cocktail napkin sending the runaway #1 team all season and top seed in the west region AZ home way earlier than anyone in the nation expected.
breaks my god damn heart every time i think about it......
It's looking like we'll have to play the winner of ASU/Stanford(they'll be playing each other twice in 5 days) in the quarterfinals and the winner of Colorado/Oregon in the semis. Definitely going to be some tougher non cakewalk games to get to the finals.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

If Wazzu loses to Oregon and ASU beats Furd then we get Wazzu/Furd.

Which seems like the probable scenario meaning of course it won’t happen.

I’ve heard two stories about this game.
1) that Karl had a party the night before and some of the cats got wasted and therefore hungover for the game.
2) Majerus said that if we had made a couple threes early, he would have scrapped the triangle and two pretty quickly. But we couldn’t shoot from outside (see number 1, above).

No matter what happens today or in the next few weeks, this has been a truly incredible season.
The players and coaches deserve every accolade they are about to receive, and then some.

Well ASU beat Stanford, WSU is beating Oregon and UW should handle OSU so that locks in ASU and Stanford as the 8/9 game. That would mean a 3 way tie for 5th between Oregon WSU and UW. And based on the tiebreakers I know of, Oregon would get #5, WSU #6 and UW #7. So final standings would be:
Arizona
USC
UCLA
Colorado
Oregon
WSU
UW
ASU
Stanford
Cal
Utah
OSU
So we'd probably have to play our first 2 tournament games against the teams most likely to beat us and that we had the most trouble with between ASU, Stanford, Oregon and Colorado
