Who really cares what our rank is on some ESPN poll. I care about one number right now and that is the Ws. In March I will care about the seed and staying in the West. Everything else is relatively irrelevant.

Bacon, one mans opinion in espns silly poll isnt a huge deal. but it's just an example of continued disregard and a lack of respect that has gone on by many of the same dudes for years. Whether we want to believe it or not, nobody watches every game, but a lot of important people who make important decisions, be it selection committees or recruits themselves base some of their decisions on what they take to be fact from these clowns who make broad statements based on the one game theyve seen.

PHXCats, that much of a variance between the AP Poll, the coaches poll, and all of Katz' colleagues (all have us in the 8 or 9 to 15 range) makes Katz look like the "Russian judge."

Again, you act like i wasnt saying the 10-14 range is more than fair. I acknowledged we havent done anything to prove we belong in the top 10. But, weve done enuff and have enuff to show why we shouldnt be outside the top 20

Lmao. This is the shit im talking about. Arizona loses its 2nd most important piece, loses to a tournament team on a neutral site and drops off the map. Other programs do the same, its "well they didn't have _____." And in games they struggle for them it's "a win is a win" and us its, man they just arent good. Parrish has always been a dumbass though. We should still be in that 20-25 range with the one loss

Well no other team in the polls got taken to OT by a team as bad as Santa Clara either..... People calling it out for what it is doesnt mean they are out to get U of A or don't respect U of A.

Like Maryland moving up to number 2 when they needed a late rally to beat 1-4 Rider (win vs Houston Baptist) at home after being down 14? I dont think they were missing their second best piece or any piece in that one either

Fuck You, east coast dickheads.

It's a double slap in the face. We lose Zeus for most of the second half vs Santa Clara and win despite an ungodly effort by #23.

We don't have Zeus vs a 5 and 0 Providence team and lose at the end. They want to drop us from 11 to out of the fucking poll? And then not even rank a 6 and 0 Providence team?

They are basically saying "..we don't think you're that good to begin with, Arizona. And neither are you, Providence.."

I hope Providence destroys Mich State. I hope Dunn drops 40 on them.

Why should that matter? A struggle against a crap team is a struggle against a crap team. Our game was without our second best player, they were all healthy. Ours was on a neutral floor, theirs was at home. That alone offsets your "overtime"

Zues was injured at the end of regulation. Face it, UA has struggled this year, who cares what Marlyand did? UA does not deserve to be ranked right now after stinking up the joint this weekend and playing awful all year compared to what they should be except for one game.

Are you just here to play devil's advocate? No, he wasn't out the whole game, but there was still 6 or 7 minutes left when he went down, which is right around where we wear teams out rather than scrambling to fill huge voids.

And U of A has struggled all year? Really? Beating lower level teams by: 18, 30, and 19, and then Boise State by 10 on a night where two guys couldnt miss. Michigan State is playing better than just about anyone and they won by 10 and Duncan and Webb were human that game. Boise St had a 7 point lead in the game and didnt really gain control til Valentine hit five straight threes.

All things considered, you wipe out this tournament, with pretty much a completely new team that hasn't played together, the team has far from struggled

Such a steep drop is a bit of surprise. But this is AZ, not KY or KS or Duke. If one of those squads loses a tight game without a starting center to a team now in the top 25, they aren't dropping 8 spots.

If there has been, I can't think of it. Lots of good neutral court wins, but as for a true road win, going into Spokane and getting the victory is pretty damn impressive, especially sans Zeus. I don't expect Gonzaga to lose another game at home this season.

We should jump both Duke and Kentucky. Neither of them look anything close to a top-10 and are regressing already. Purdue we should probably pass and we should be near Iowa State.

We will be #11 but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't even move up one spot.

Also after our UNLV win we dropped 4 spots in KenPom. We are not reflecting well in his algorithim this year - feels weird.

cause the teams we've played so far collectively have sucked -- 7 Pac12 teams outside of AZ are in the Kenpom top 50 with Cal checking in at 51 today.

If the CATS play well in conf (especially on the road) those metrics will improve.

They always rank AZ as low as possible, but at least they did not omit them as CBS Sports did earlier.
Duke and KY are both still ranked higher after a good (???) loss, as predicted in this thread.

17. Arizona
Record: 11-1
Previous rank: 17

Ryan Anderson recorded back-to-back double-doubles and Dusan Ristic scored a career-high 20 points in the win over UNLV—his third consecutive game scoring in double figures. Kaleb Tarczewski better hurry up and get healthy before there's no longer a job waiting for him.
