Or leaving some scholies for 16 open if none of the remaining targets commit.

What are our biggest needs in the '17 class?

From next season's team, I believe we only definitely lose KA and could lose others to the pros (AT, RS, and some of our freshmen). Will DR be back? Will PJC? Seems like we have needs just about everywhere in '17.

When we add 4 or 5 five stars to a starting lineup of Kobi/Zo/JJ/LM/CC, I'm optimistic about how the year will go in '17.

Let's do lineups now:

LM/NO

PQ/RS/TU

VW/XY

AB/CD

EF/Geeee!

About time, Gumby. Maybe BC can chime in too.

A few concerns, though...

Lose LM to Big Easy like that other guy? Nah.

It's said VW drove over for his Official but was turned down------ SCSM said he wasn't a clutch player.

Also heard CD was out of tune with our players in a pick-up game.

Otherwise, great lineups, Gum!

He's a 4 year guy who apparently looked ok at a midmajor his freshman year. There's nothing wrong with this. If we expect TF/RS/AT/RA to all go, or at least two of them to leave, it gives us needed depth.

It seems like just yesterday people were pining for developmental projects.

Looking further, he was mainly a 3 point shooter. 35% and led the team in scoring. Not that this tells us a ton, but he seems like a reasonable target for a transfer.

Trier likely gone, Allen done, very likely one of if not both Ferguson/Alkins won't be around next year. Yeah I'd say it'd be in our best interest to get a proven guy into our program, learning our system, and then contributing after all those guys at his position are gone.

Arizona basketball recruiting: Wildcats 'focused' on getting five-star Ike Obiagu on campus

Alec Sills-Trausch @UofAlec on May 10, 2016, 4:07p

Ikechukwu Obiagu, a 7-foot, 230 pound center out of Decatur, Georgia, is arguably the best shot blocker in the entire country, even being compared to four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Dikembe Mutombo.

On May 5th, Obiagu was offered a scholarship by Sean Miller; adding to a long list of schools that are vying for his rim-protecting abilities.

In his lone season with the Bulldogs, Smith averaged a team-high 13.5 points per game, as well as 2.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. The 6-foot-5 guard/forward shot an unimpressive 36.9 percent from the field, but a lot of that had do with the fact that he took nearly seven 3s per game, and knocked down 34.9 percent of them -- a decent percentage considering the high volume. Plus, he was in his first year of college basketball, so his inefficiency isn't too worrisome at the moment, and he did shoot 82.2 percent from the free throw line.

More depth, no chemistry issues.

Welcome aboard!

It's a nice addition. We get 4 years of him in the program, with 3 to play. He has good size for a wing, shot it well and led a tourney team in scoring his freshman year. You need some solid rotation guys to go along with 5 stars, and that's basically what it looks like we got.

He is going to have a helluva ride playing for Arizona even with a lot of it on the bench. Lots of stories to tell his kids about places he has been and players he played against.

My niece's husband played DB for UNCA's football team, and it was more long bus rides than private charters.

You can't "know" such a thing, but from all reports the guys we're bringing in know their roles and are happy with them. They had chances to go other places and play more, but chose Arizona. Those don't sound like chemistry-killers to me.

Arizona needs 5-6 stars and 2-3 role players who know their place.

Even Kentucky couldn't win it all with 10 stars.

You can argue the best guard in Miller's tenure here was McConnell, a small school transfer. Johnson was best statistically, and Trier maybe has best overall potential, but impact, TJ was that.

I'm glad Miller isn't so arrogant he brushes off small school stars. Some of them can be very good.

I like this too. Get your firepower, fill in the gaps with the right guys who will know their roles and do what they have to do because they want to be a part of something great. Sounds like two particular and very successful NBA teams.
